You Make Me Feel Brand New by Chicki Brown is the tale of Jan Davis divorced a year ago after being in an unfulfilling, loveless marriage for twenty-five years. She became a personal chef and met a new client named Mac Sinclair who is a sports management agent. Their attraction is immediate and takes her completely out of her comfort zone. She is tentative because of their age differences as he is younger than her. We witness their story unfolding with her working through many emotions, as well as his attentiveness and patience while they deal with their relationship and those that are not pleased that they are dating. These two people forge ahead but can they make it work....read this short, engaging tale and find out.

I love a good romance, and this was short and sweet. I literally read it in ninety minutes. This May/December romance is about Jan and Mac, two people who both know what they want and are not afraid to explore where the relationship will lead them. There is a bit of conflict between Jan and her daughter, and Mac and his mother. One conflict is resolved, and the other the reader is left wondering. I don't want to give away the story, but suffice to say, this was an enjoyable read. The errors/typos don't interfere with the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and Chicki Brown does not disappoint. This sweet, short, quick read will satisfy and have you wanting to know more about the other secondary characters in the story. I do hope Chicki Brown will write separate stories for Noreen and Kathy as well as Jan's daughters. You Make Me Feel Brand New

Jan Davis was a 40s something year old recently divorced chef who provided services to a very elite clientele base. Mac Sinclair, a 20s something sports management agent with an impressive roster of clients as well, hired Jan to prepare and cater a dinner party at his home. During the meal preparations, Mac was quite enamored with Jan the person, and her chef's skills. So Mac decided to make Jan his next mission for love. This May-December romance was a nice take on the older woman, younger man relationship. What's nice about the story was that it actually feels like a real couple in a real relationship. I like her two daughter's reactions to her new man, and his parents reaction to the news was unexpected. I whole-heartily recommend this novel.. This was my first Chicki Brown novel, it will not be my last!!

Chicki Brown has given us another well-written story, this one about a middle-aged divorcee who finds an unexpected love in the arms of a younger man. Despite objections from her younger daughter and his mother and her own initial misgivings about their age difference, Jan and Mac, the heroine and hero, stand steadfast in their belief that they are meant to be together. Mac knows he wants to be with Jan from the beginning and woes her with romance, patience and unwavering support.

This story is short but sweet with an inspirational tone. For readers who love such tales, this is the one for you. Another great one from Ms. Brown!!

This is a very refreshing novelette by one of my favorite authors, Chicki Brown. She writes simply with understanding and compassion. In this story Jan Davis is divorced for a year after being married for 25 years to a man who lacked love and romance. The marriage ended slowly and painfully. She had worked as an accountant, but her one passion she loved doing was cooking. So she starts a personal chef business which grows successfully to where she can quit her accounting job. Her two daughters Bobbi and Val are living elsewhere, the youngest, Val, still in college. Jan is preparing food for a party that Mac Sinclair, a sports manager, is holding the next evening for many of his clients and some hopeful clients. He sits in the kitchen watching her prepare meals and chatting with Jan. When she's about ready to leave, Mac asks her if she'd like to attend the party the next evening. She declined, saying she never mixed business with pleasure. After spending the next early evening having dinner with her female friends, she tells them about her invitation to attend the party as Mac's date. Why not? They talk her into it and she calls Mac to see if she's still invited. Oh, yes, he was hoping she'd decide to attend. She feels somewhat awkward because Mac is 35 years old, while she is 11 years older. But Mac doesn't see her age, only her beauty, sweetness, and maturity. How will her daughters see this relationship? What about his family? Is she denying him the opportunity to become a father? I love this warm and tender story. It brightened my day and I could not take a break from reading it. The writing quality is excellent, characters are captivating and unique. It's definitely a heartwarming story you'll want to read to lift your spirits.

This is a warm and wonderful love story. YOU MAKE ME FEEL BRAND NEW by CHICKI BROWN is about a divorced woman with two grown-up children. The title of the story attracted me to buy and read it.I happen to love the song. The lyrics are positive and beautiful. After Jan's divorce, she meets Mac. Mac is handsome, kind and just plain lovable. However, the fly in the buttermilk is Mac's age. Mac is eleven years younger than Jan. Jan is forty seven years old.

I suppose this type of romance is still called a May/September romance. One thing I know after reading Chicki Brown's story is that when a man is younger than the woman no matter how much they love one another people will have an opinion about whether the older woman is robbing the cradle. The woman seems to suffer the most in this type of relationship. Jan always brought the issue of age up to Mac when they were alone. Then, the most painful time is when Mac's mother, Ruth brings up the fact that she thinks her son will lose the best years of his life with this "old" woman. Of course, the girls have different opinions too. One daughter is still stuck in time thinking about whether her mother should have divorced her father, Robert.

The question becomes will the the romance make it through the storm? I think Mac's open and nurturing and preservering love kept the romance alive and well. In the end it doesn't matter what people say about you and the one you love. It's how much you love that person. Will you love them through thick and thin? The opinions of other people don't count. This is an easy going romance with love making sweet and gentle, but this story is also filled with the tough issues that must be faced during the romance. It's not a walk down the garden path unless real, true, binding love is in the hands of the two lovers. They must carry that love as closely as the rings on their fingers.
