Primarily it is aimed at single parents and meant to be a guide to coping with all the problems that come with having children and divorces/breakups and it does this magnificently. There are guides along with well thought out and simple life coaching exercises to assist with being a better person and identifying the right potential partner. However, even with these exercises, it also works for people that, like me, just want to go on a journey to see themselves in a mirror that doesn’t distort any images and with that initial, possibly uncomplimentary, picture they can improve and find a happiness that they are missing from their lives.
Instead of strict and rigid orders telling me what to do “If you want you can Fly” is written as if it was gentle and kind advice given by a caring friend. It shows what being happy truly is and from there it goes on to reveal how to get on with life so that others that come into our lives can be recognised for what they truly are. Be they genuine friends that you’d want to keep in your world or, shall we just say, people that have to be put down to experience as they are left behind.
The word LOVE is used quite a lot, both in the physical and emotional sense and as I read the book I could feel the love that the author has for those that she wants to help but I also felt the passion for her subject; both shined through and made it a pleasure to read.
Whatever your marital or relationship status I would definitely recommend this book. My journey to self-improvement might be dark, bumpy and still have a very long way to go but this book is something I would want to take with me to help me be a better me.
