I already own my own business and work at home but I have to tell that there are a lot of ideas that I found useful in this book. Everyone should have a copy to refer to on your book shelf. Great book ladies, keep up the good work!
Do you want to work at home and don't know where to begin? Do you feel your lack of experience and fear of the unknown will hinder your ability for success? Jill Hart and Diana Ennen were once right where you are. They struggled with challenges, learned from them and twenty or so years later gained experience and decided to share it with others. "So You Want to be a Work-At-Home Mom" is the culmination of their years of experience as they share what works and what doesn't in the world of at-home work--real work--not stuffing envelopes or other potential scams.
Each chapter is full of helpful info from making the decision to work-at-home to choosing a business, marketing and client relations and staying motivated. You will love the down-to-earth approach and the easy-to-read and follow guidelines. Most, if not all, of your questions will be answered in this short, quickly read book.
Disclosure of Material Connection: I received a copy of this book as a gift. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255: "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising."
Jill and Diana pull no punches. They tell you that you need to set your priorities in your home and your business. When they overlap, you will need to be prepared for the difficulties that arise. The authors encourage you to analyze your heart first. Have you prayed about becoming a CWAHM - Christian Work-at-Home Mom?
Then the practical questions. Are you self-reliant? Self-motivated? Self-disciplined? If so, this is the book for you.
Systematically, the authors guide you through the steps to being a successful CWAHM all the while keeping faith and family at the forefront. Charts, logs, and lists will help you stay on task, organized, and motivated. If you're a Christian mom thinking of setting up a home-based business, pick up this book and learn from two women who have successfully worked from their homes and generously help you learn to do it, too!
Jill and Diana guide women--Christian or not--through the decision making process of running a home-based business to types of enterprises to consider. They didn't miss a beat when they talk about marketing and networking. They suggest creative ideas for office space with an activity place for the kids. They didn't forget about the necessary disciplines of time management, bookkeeping, and record-maintenance for making it a successful venture.
However, I kept wishing they had put the basic marketing information in the chapter with reference to an appendix for details. And, I found this little 224 page book jammed packed with so much valuable information I didn't want to forget, it needs to come with a highlighter and notebook. (BTW - I did give a copy to my daughter-in-law.)
