About the Author
Pat Mena was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a bachelor’s degree in education. Pat and her husband, Willie, currently live in El Paso where they raised their three sons. After teaching elementary school as a bilingual teacher for 26 years, she retired and began her encounters in writing. Her book, You’ll Be Fine, Darling is a true story about her son’s struggle with PTSD, post-traumatic stress disorder. Her son, Anthony, was diagnosed with this disorder after returning from Iraq while serving in the Air Force. Pat was inspired to write her son’s story after THE NEW YORK TIMES and THE EL PASO TIMES wrote stories about Pat’s son and other military troops struggling with PTSD. The stories focused on U.S. troops who are overmedicated by powerful drugs to help them cope with their daily lives. The stories also focused on how the families of these troops are affected. Pat experienced the difficulties of helping her son cope with the symptoms of PTSD and the side effects from being overmedicated by prescribed medication. After hearing about the many troops that are returning with similar experiences and obtaining the insight of this disorder, Pat was convinced to write this story to shed light on the problems which have become so common within our military families or anyone who is strongly medicated.

A touching, eye-opening, gripping story about a brave young man who fulfills his dream of serving in armed forces to protect his nation, another nation, and many people and principles in between. Told from the perspective of SrA Anthony Mena's mother's eyes, this is a wake-up call–a battle cry–to everyone about the harsh reality of war, and the even harsher nightmares of PTSD that many of our heroes return with. We all need to step up and take and demand better care for our wounded soldiers. They deserve the absolute best care, and too often get subpar, or worse, negligent "care." Medication and pills will never solve such soul-crushing problems such as PTSD. They need care, love, meditation, cuddles, spiritual guidance, and sometimes just an ear. It is such a tragic topic because they feel trapped and often not willing to talk about it. See the signs and act gently. Question the doctors. Ask God for guidance and help. This is a story about my high school friend's younger brother who paid the ultimate price for protecting freedom. Bobby, I am so sorry for your loss. Mrs Mena, you have raised some amazing men. SrA Tony, God bless you, thank you for your service, and may you Rest In Peace. To our other high school friend Russel Shirley who also paid the ultimate price after serving, may you Rest In Peace as well. (Jose G)

My father inspired me to read this book. He knew SrA Mena and is in continuous contact with Mrs. Mena. I have only read the first few chapters and already have had to bring out the tissues. My father selflessly gave 30 years of his life to the Air Force and in security forces. I was only brave enough to give 6 years to the Air Force. I understand the struggles of being the one left behind as loved ones deployed. If you want to read a book from a mothers perspective this is the perfect book. It shares the memories of a selfless airman who loved what he did. I now understand my dads pain and why he has always felt his airman were our family.

A true story of a veteran's struggle with PTSD and how it effects all members of the family. I personally know the author, Pat Mena, and witnessed her struggle of trying to help her son overcome PTSD. Very sad but insightful book. I recommend this book to anyone going through PTSD, and their families.
