I love these people. My take away from watching this show--I'm impressed. These people WORK HARD, love their families, love their pets, and take care of each other and their neighbors. What a novel idea! Most people just expect the government to take care of them....the concept of really hard work to provide for themselves and their family is foreign to them. The swamp people, when interviewed on the show, always talk about family being the most important thing. They risk their lives for their families and even their pets. When a friend or neighbor needs them...they're there. And always showing hospitality. I find the show inspirational and would much prefer to watch it then other reality shows.

These hard-working people make the best use of their "Natural Resources". I am fully aware that this is a reality show with all the showbiz that entails. Yet these people seem to remain genuine in their persuits whether it's hunting allegators, enjoying family, or the heartfelt loss of a loved one. Although I'm far from any exotic creepy crawies (-30° would do a number on gaters & snakes) I enjoy a glimpse into these people's lives.

Interesting on going story about several people who live out the Cajun life. Hunting alligators. It's always alligator season which runs for 30 days in August and it seems that each year the people in the story get an additional number of alligator tags to fill. The challenge is to fill them all. Some intense scenes where the alligators fight back, and seem like they might win. Drama over whether or not they can get the alligator to market before it's spoiled and the tag is wasted. Close captioning for those who can't understand the Cajun accent.

The lives of those who truly live off the land are very difficult but rewarding. This way of life passed down for generations is remarkable and humbling. There aren't too many parents passing down a legacy like that to their children! I enjoy getting a glimpse into their lives. However, the episode script narration interfered at times with my enjoyment by repetition of the same phrases over and over...hence 4 stars.

It seems that when they are reaching the end of their hunting season that most of the alligator hunters are grousing about the fact that they have several tags left to use and are running out of time.
What they don't say is that every year they buy more alligator tags than the year before. So I say quit complaining about it.
At the rate they are going there will surely be a year when they end up with wasted tags. But that is just like any business.

They don't seem to be in as much danger to me as the boys on Gatorboys

Our family has been watching Swamp People since it first aired. It's one of the few television shows that we feel is worth watching. Unfortunately since most television consists of reality tv, we decided to drop cable. Our one regret in this was that we could no longer watch Swamp People. However, with Amazon, we only have to wait one extra day to see new episodes. So instead of Thursday nights being Swamp People night, we watch it on Friday nights. We love that Amazon offers this so that we can still enjoy our favorite show!
