This CD combines old blues and jazz with a little folk and bluegrass. "Sister Kate," "Do You Call That a Buddy?" and "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out" are jazz tunes from the first half of the 20th century. "The Young Man Without Sense" is Proverbs7 set to music. "I'll Get Along Somehow," "Stingy Mama," and "Jail Bird Blues" are my adaptations of songs by Blind Boy Fuller.
"Hobo's Lullabye" by Goebel Reeves (1960) and "I Never Will Marry" (trad.) are soulful folk songs. "Free Little Bird" is a bluegrass tune.
Dean Rathje: voice, guitar, slide guitar, banjo, mandolin, piano, bass.
