I was only five years old when this album came out. It is still my favorite album of all time. Seven years, Soulful Love, Jealous man... and more. Back then, the medium was 8-track and everybody (and their mother) had one. I would listen to it over and over and over. Darn near forty years later, I'm still listening to this album over and over and over!!!

This particular album played tricks in how it was recorded. Vocals on the left, horns on the right. Even though I had (many times) wished that this album had been re-recorded, I'm glad (now) that they didn't. No need to mess with perfection.

The music, itself, was (in my opinion) Curtis & co. at their hungriest. Too many times, we see artists after they have "made it" and they seem to lose something after that. Curtis never lost "it" and always had "it". This album is a classic and a must-have for the old-skool players.

This CD is great to listen to if you are a person that grew up when Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions were singing in the 60's. I love everything that he ever recorded. He was a person before his time. Great music!

Found dis wit a lot of classic salsa, soul and disco albums that somebody threw out. The lyrics and arrangements arent unlike Marvin Gaye's classic What's Going On album, so if you've heard that and you dig it, then check this slice of vintage funk/soul out!

I agree with the first reviewers comments, this is a group that never ever lost their desire to make relevant music about the life and times experienced by them while at the same time being socially conscious and a voice for change both in their lives and the lives of their listeners. This album, like all of their LP's in the 1960's, was very much about the great Curtis Mayfield, his ability to touch upon so very many different yet important topics of conversation, all within the framework of an album is truly incredible. However, both Fred Cash and Sam Gooden were the perfect compliment to Mayfield's genius and brought their own unique style and charisma to the group as well as outstanding vocal contributions.

This album displayed the usual breadth of the groups talent and Mayfield's songwriting, he gives us a glimpse of what was to come when he was to go solo in 1970. His songs began to display a hard funk undertone which was used as a canvas for the more profound socially conscious themes he would master on albums like "Curtis" and "Roots". On this album, you have everything from love songs like "The Girl I Find"; "Love's Miracle" & "Soulful Love" then there are the songs of inner struggle "My Deceiving Heart" and "Jealous Man" and then their are the classic socially conscious songs as mentioned above such as the title track "Young Mods Forgotten Story; "Choice of Colors" and "Mighty Mighty (Spade & Whitey). He even throws in a song with a classic gospel feel "Wherever You Leadeth Me".

This is truly a great album and once again provided the group with opportunity to showcase their talents as, in my opinion, the best group of the 60's. You can also hear the maturity in Mayfield's guitar playing too.
