Knowing that the author, Suzanne Munshower, had worked in the beauty industry, I asked her what led up to writing Younger. She said the idea came to her when she was talking to a friend about returning to the US after more than a decade in Europe. “I wondered aloud what I’d do for work. She said, wouldn’t it be a snap for me to find a corporate VP job in the beauty industry until I got settled? That made me laugh, and I explained to her that women my age rarely got hired.” But just think—what if a woman in Suzanne’s situation had all the right experience and still looked twenty-five? She’d be unstoppable.
In Younger, Anna is only too willing to be lured by the promise of restored youth, seizing the chance to become a new, improved version of herself. But when everything goes terribly wrong, she begins to realize that in seeking to remake her life, she might end up losing everything. The truth hurts, but it’s the only thing that can keep her alive.
