With contagious enthusiasm, Becky Haas has spent over thirty-five years of her career developing, communicating and implementing programs to help improve the quality of life for others. Becky is a graduate of Rhema Bible Training Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma and a seasoned teacher of God's Word sharing in church settings as well as among professionals. Whether through employment or volunteerism, Becky demonstrates a tireless heart for serving within her community and recognizing ways God can use her to reach those who are hurting. Currently she oversees Community Crime Prevention Programs for the Johnson City Police Department in Johnson City, Tennessee. Prior this she served as the Director of the Targeted Community Crime Reduction Project which was awarded the "Outstanding Criminal Justice Program for the Year" for the southern region by the National Criminal Justice Association in 2014 and is listed by the U.S. Department of Justice as a "Success Story." We don't need to wait until we know enough or have enough, there is so much need and so many good organizations and resources to help us, and who need us. Our small group read this book together and had so much to talk about. We are inspired to serve together and will feel successful if we accomplish even a small fraction of what Becky has done.

Wow….I so appreciate “Your City is Waiting on You” by Becky Haas. Part spiritual journey, part autobiography, part current events, part leadership level community influencer, the book is difficult to put down. The author has skillfully provided passages of Scripture, ranging from a verse to several paragraphs, into relevant parts of the book. I found all of the book insightful and interesting, but I really enjoyed the chapter entitled “Treat Your City with Kindness”. This chapter speaks to Trauma Informed Care and Adverse Childhood Experiences, which are concepts I find absolutely fascinating. I believe the vehicle of this book will enable more of the general public to become conversant about TIC and ACEs, which are both important to everyone, but especially to those working with either children or the addicted population. Thank you, Becky Hass, for writing “Your City is Waiting on You.”

This is an excellent book with an inspirational message- that we ALL can be used to help people who are hurting in our community. Many times we are waiting on God but the truth is that God is waiting on us! He is waiting on us to step out with help for others, sometimes in fear and trembling within ourselves but more importantly in confidence in the God who lives within us. Becky Haas gives many amazing examples of how, although "seemingly unqualified", she is being used to change the landscape of her community for the Kingdom of God. I highly recommend this book for your personal growth as a Christian. I also recommend it as a Bible study for your church as an impetus and strategy for outreach in your communities!
