Loved this album from the first listen. Got Your Six shows a band who is looking back and remembering what American Capitalist and War is the Answer sounded like. The experimental side of the Wrong Side of Heaven albums is all but gone here. Not that there was anything wrong with those albums, as they are also 5 star recordings in my book. But this one is quite a but more up front and brutal. So, in other words, if you're a 5FDP, you'll love it. If you don't, you're certainly not a fan.
Now, for those coming at this as the average rock music fan, looking at the awesome album artwork, and wondering what the album is all about, it goes like this; We have here a band that leans heavily on post-grunge bands for song structure, and takes equal parts 90's Metallica, Hatebreed, and Pantera, and somehow makes it all radio friendly. With the exception of the parental advisory parts. You have a thundering, double-bass driven drum sound, along with a very low, chugging bass guitar, to give the rhythm section enough power to drive a tank. Vocalist Ivan Moody is what Phil Anselmo of Pantera would have been if he has mixed his brutality with the ability to harmonize occasionally, and add some heart to the songs. All without stripping back the total power and volume. And them we have the guitars. Zoltan Bathory and Jason Hook are a twin terror of ridiculously heavy riffs and tweeter frying solos. Zoltan is the heart and soul of the band, who, even though hails from Hungary, is nothing short of an American patriot, and a full-time supporter of our troops. And it certainly shows in the lyrics, videos, and overall message of the songs. All without getting overly preachy on the subject, and without dumbing down the lyrics.

All hail this band! Cannot stop listening to this epic band ever since I first heard them last summer! Ivan Moody has this husky yet unique voice and screams that really pumps me up! Zoltan has this crazy mind bending riffs and solos that are unlike any other. Most of the band's songs underscore serious themes such as the horrors of war, suicide (mostly on teenagers), and freedom and disobedience from a horrifying system!

The label says they are getting stale, but I listen to this album almost every day. Their music is evolving even if Ivan Moody is somewhat....reckless. 5FDP delivers a super heavy hard rock/metal tone and feel that is original, one-of-a-kind, and insanely addictive.

I was about to write these guys off since their last few albums. Glad I didn't. This album is awesome and amazing from start to finish. I got to see them live in concert recently and this album is even better live.

Another great Fiver Finger Death Punch CD. Hits (played on radio) include: Jekyll and Hyde, Wash it all Away, and My Nemesis. At the end of the CD there is a bonus recorded voicemail regarding Jekyll and Hyde and how the song came to be.

5FDP is still one of my very favorite bands. But with expectation comes disappointment. It feels like this band is going the direction of Metallica. Too many albums in too short of time that are all too familiar. The title track is by far the best on this mediocre album. It is the essence of 5FDP with hard driving riffs and powerful lyrics. That's about where it ends for me. My Nemesis is catchy but falls flat after a few listens. The band seems to be reaching on this album and is trying to hard to be creative with Jekyll and Hyde, Wash it all away, Boots and blood. The songs are almost goofy. This album is good, not great. It falls short of what 5FDP is capable of. Past 5FDP music never left my head after listening and I would crave hearing it again and again, the songs would stick in my head for days. Unfortunately its not so with this album with the exception of Got your six. 5FDP is and will remain one of my all time favorite bands, I have seen them half a dozen times live, and met them VIP in Vegas. However, this album does not reflect this bands greatness.

The band's label in its lawsuit against the band claimed that FFDP's sound is starting to get stale. While perhaps not an absolute truth, there is certainly some level of truth to this. The band is starting to get to the point where it needs to change things up a bit. While there are some solid rockers such as the title track, which is a great pump-you-up track, much of the album is too meat and potatoes. By the time the guys get to the closer, "Boots and Blood," it seems like they've run out of creative juices with Ivan Moody giving up lyrically and resorting to dropping as many f bombs as possible.

Even if not pushing new ground lyrically, Moody knocks if out of the park on the chorus of "Wash It All Away" and "Ain't My Last Dance" with arena-size melodic vocals. He has one of the best hard rock voices where his melodic singing needs to be utilized more often. Hopefully he can resolve some of this health issues and reach new heights.

Drum wise, Jeremy Spencer may have intentionally tried to simplify things, but he makes the band sound more interesting when he goes on a rip with double bass fills. He's a very capable drummer and hopefully he notches it back up on the next album.

The band certainly knows how to spread its wings as shown on "Question Everything," as best exemplified with the classical guitar solo. There needs to be more of these refreshing moments. The two axemen have shown their technical brilliance before and I'm fully confident the band is capable of pushing the boundaries further.

FFDP is one of the biggest players in hard rock, but it's at an inflection point where the guys need to start evolving and show what else they are capable of doing if they wish to stay relevant and near the top of the game.
