Deanne's wonderful book, "Living with your Dragons," will show you how to recognize fear, anger, and anxiety when they first appear, as they are the clues of Dragon attacks. You'll learn to take time for retreat and stillness, to ask for help, to choose wholeness rather than blame and avoidance, to choose love and truth in creating and sustaining good relationships, to take care of your body and soul, to choose positive over negative, to allow your heart to love and be loved, to go on a mission to free yourself from their control, and to live a life of purpose.
Filled with stories, suggestions, and challenging questions, this book can be your personal guide or even a great tool for group studies, intending to unveil and tame the dragons that cripple us, so that we can peacefully coexist with them.
If you are, or going, on a journey to wellness, you need to take along this book. It is the tool that will get you on the right path, but more than anything, will protect you from yourself and the Dragons you carry with you. I highly recomend it!
She effectively presents steps towards healing from any deep-set negative patterns, thus enabling you to pursue an unfettered, richer life.
The author is transparent and candidly shares her own past struggles/setbacks, and shares insight and wisdom on how she successfully overcame them. Even though the experiences are personal, anyone can easily relate to the underlying emotions; and gain understanding to not only overcome any critical/self-disparaging thoughts from past wounds, but to also move forward, living life to the fullest.
At the end of each section the author lists doable self-inventory and growth steps that anyone can easily partake in.
All in all, a great read equipped with tools to jump-start your life to a new potential.
They feed on the false narratives that we believe about ourselves and the negative
thought patterns we revert to when we feel threatened, discouraged, or unloved." From Section 1 , Living with Dragons ......
I chose a 5 star rating because this book exposed the fact that we have "Dragons" in our lives, (at least I certainly do,) that affect most of our decisions and responses, and ultimately our fulfillment in life. Similar to bugs in our garden or grubs in our yard. The garden or yard will not be healthy until the pests are eradicated. When we identify the dragons and the way they came into our lives, we are then able to deal with them and get life to flow more freely, allowing a more vibrant life to manifest. I will read this book again to continue shining light in my "basement", reveal and expose the places/events where the dragons were born, continue the healing process and keep the dragons corralled.. . I would recommend this book to almost everyone I know. Thanks Deanne Welsh, for exposing your dragons, for the examination, diagnosis and prescription to get the dragons out, know how we get them, deal with the dragons we have and understand the effect they have on us. This a book you won't regret reading. A short book that is packed with insight... ( Another book on this subject is, When the Past is Present, by David Richo )
