OMG! This book was written just for me.. I had been actually praying for better concentration, that's how bad it was... I found this book by pure accident (maybe the power of my mind??) and it was like I had my own coach. Diana is an Amazing writer and just about the BEST self help book I have ever read. She is my new hero and want to search out more of her books. It's a must read if you have trouble focusing...

Diana Fitts and her book "You Focus Formula" made some tips to improve your focus and achievement your goals. Not all the tasks we made every day are simple, attractive and happiness. Some will be difficult and awful, but we'll need to do them. Diana proposes asking if that tasks are really necessary and they are aligned with aur goals: "Every minute you spend on some thing extraneous is a minute you're not spending working on something meaningful to you".
If the tasks are necessary she recommends focus on then to increase our productivity. How? That answer is in the book: trough visualization, using pomodoro technique, applying a strategic diversion, scheduling breaks, etc.

This is a very good bood that both explains why you have problem focussing, and how to remedy the situation. I am sure I will return to it often!

I'm writing this post before the official release date of this book, as I was fortunate enough to receive an early copy in exchange for this review.
I was a bit intimidated to start this book on focus, for the same reason that I was so excited to read it -- because focusing on anything requires a great deal of effort for me. Much to my delight, Fitts wrote this book with an ingenious manner of providing much needed wisdom and knowledge in an easy to read, relevant, conversational format. The book has a great, natural flow to it, as I would read a section and find myself thinking, "Okay, so what about...." and BAM! The questions in my mind would be answered in the following section.
The examples that the author used to illustrate points and contexualize the information were so common and relatable that I found myself chuckling with recognition as they applied to myself so perfectly.
I spent a lot of time reflecting on the section in which Fitts discusses "clarifying the why" to increase the focus in my daily tasks, as there were many things I was putting off in my life even though procrastinating was causing anxiety and guilt to build. When I brought into consciousness WHY it was important to do these little tasks, it felt like something clicked that hadn't before and gave me the boost I needed to just get it done.
The section on mantras was also especially helpful, as I was not aware of how incessant and damaging my negative self-talk seemed to be, until I took control and turned these thoughts into something positive. I also loved the power of pairing positive visualizations with disappointment visualizations - this is a completely new concept to me and has helped me incredibly in letting me visualize the good feeling of accomplishing my goal, contrasted with the "what if" effects of my not-so-focused actions.
I am feeling a fresh sense of empowerment and motivation as the author really illustrates how to take control of your mind and your focus - from the little things in life to the more daunting of tasks - and I can't wait to see what else I'm more equipped to accomplish with the great wisdom I've acquired through reading..

To preface this review, it is important to know that I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of the book in exchange for my thoughts on the author's work.
I am not one to write reviews on products unless they make a significant impact on me, but as I read through this book I found myself taking many notes on the exercises presented and jotting down quotes that resonated with me. I loved it.
The author presents multiple strategies to keep you engaged throughout the book, a seemingly intuitive approach to a book all about focus, but rather brilliant in how Diana Fitts executed the task. The book is crafted to guide the untrained mind to learn the scaffolding necessary for harnessing your inner focus toward accomplishing both your dreams and even the tasks that are often mundane, but necessary, that all of us are tasked to do in our lives (i.e. laundry, taxes, reports, errands, and so forth).
The author helped me demystify some of the barriers that hold me back from completing the piles of button up shirts I consistently dread completing - but now do so routinely when paired with my strong commitment to watching Scandal on Thursdays. Simple strategies like this have helped empower me to take on goals that were once illusive due to their overwhelming nature, like beginning my next job search.
I look forward to actually purchasing this book as a means of thanks to the author for her time, energy, and unbounded focus toward creating such a great tool for me to continue using for years to come.

I am so happy I picked up this book when I did. My life is in the middle of chaos- working, classes, applying for graduate school. To say I've been overwhelmed is an understatement. Despite trudging through all of my tasks and and completing them- I felt like I was drowning in a list of to-do's. Opening, "Your Focus Formula" felt like holding onto a life raft. The author gave me hope that long term goals are attainable, but also gave me ways to take care of the small things (like sleeping and eating). Implementing the strategies detailed in this book helped me not only move closer to my long term goal- it also has made me happier on a daily level.

I gave this book five stars because for me it has shown me the reasons why I struggle completing some task and more importantly how to overcome this. The book is well structured and cuts straight to the chase without the need for a hundred different examples.
