For some reason, cheating books are my catnip, so I was really excited to read this book's premise. I snapped it up immediately, and really liked watching Sadie and Ezra change the nature of their relationship. Friends to lovers books always intrigue me, so between this and the cheating thing, I was sold from the get-go. I think that I may have enjoyed the second book in this series better than this one, but not by much. If your brain doesn't explode due to the previously mentioned editing issues and appalling apostrophe abuse, consider reading this book.
When Sadie finds he fiance cheating on her two weeks before the wedding, she ends up moving in with Ezra and things definitely get interesting. Sadie has always had a crush on Ezra, but being as though he's her best friend she never wanted to lose that with him.
Things definitely heat up between these two and I loved every second of Sadie and Ezra together, even if they were keeping it secret and things definitely got blurred between them. Ezra is the quiet one of the boys, he's not crazy and out going like Maddox, or dark and brooding like Mathias, he's the quiet one and the one that is always there for his friends. You can tell Ezra cares for Sadie, but like her, I wasn't sure how much he really cared for her. The party he threw for her to cheer her up, taking her off for their own little adventures, and just curling up and relaxing watching chick flicks. What is there not to love about Ezra?! Watching these two together you know they are meant to be together, just like Remy and Mathias, and Emma and Maddox. They just work, and when Ezra hurts Sadie she takes it a whole lot worse than when her jerk of an ex cheated on her.
This is a definite friends to lovers story, and I really wish these two would have talked about things more than they did, instead of just assuming. I think a lot of things could have been resolved sooner, but then again, where would the story have been if it was that easy? I loved Hayes in this book. We really didn't get to know much of him in previous books, and how open he was with Sadie and how he really understood the bond between Ezra and Sadie was amazing and I can't wait to read his story! Emma was a little crazy in this book, and you can tell her and Sadie have drifted apart over the years, but she wants the old Sadie back. She does get a little over the top in trying to get Sadie and Ezra to admit their feelings, but in the end it's all understandable.
I loved getting to see more of the previous couples in this book as well. Seeing Mathias and how over protective and loving he is of Remy is awesome. Maddox is still as crazy as ever and is always there to lighten up the mood. As much as I did love the previous couples in this series, I have to say that Sadie and Ezra are my favorites so far. There is just something about these two that you can't help but fall in love with.
I have become addicted to this series and will be patiently (not really) waiting for the next book to see what is next in store for these crazy men of Willow Creek and their amazing significant others. This series is a definite must read and Micalea Smeltzer does an amazing job of bringing these books to life and pulling you into these beautiful and angsty stories!
Sadie really surprised me as I got to know her better. In the previous books she was always so vibrant, fun loving, and full of attitude, but In Your Heart shows us the underlying woman who is as vulnerable and uncertain as the rest of us. Micalea Smeltzer fully exposed this character to us, allowing me to connect with her insecurities and genuine fear of unrequited love. Her story was certainly filled with unexpected ups and downs, but that sass and witty spark always simmered just beneath the surface, rounding out the emotion and heat that made up Sadie’s story. Ezra had been tugging at the back of my mind since we first met him and he was every bit as swoon-worthy and addictive as I imagined and then some. He definitely stole a piece of my heart with his unwavering loyalty and kindness. Sure, there were times when I wanted to slap him. In typical male fashion he failed at voicing his emotions honestly and unintentionally screwed things up on several occasions but that fear of losing Sadie was always there, reminding me how deep his feelings really ran.
In Your Heart was an exciting, heartbreaking, steamy, and hilarious journey that had me completely enthralled from the start. Ezra and Sadie’s witty banter and carefree antics kept me grinning as they navigated the unavoidable tension between them. In Your Heart packed some serious heat as things between these two got scorching hot. Micalea Smeltzer pulled at every emotion with the unforeseen twists and undeniable angst that comprised Ezra and Sadie’s journey. I loved how much we got to see of the other characters in this book. I didn’t realize how much I missed all of Micalea’s fantastic characters until the Willow Creek crew was back together again. In Your Heart felt like coming home. Seeing Maddox, Emma, Remy, and Mathias moving forward in their lives was definitely fulfilling. For the first time in the series, we got a good look at Hayes and I have to say, I’m a little in love with him. I can’t wait to hear his story next! With In Your Heart, Micalea Smeltzer has once again written a captivating and feeling novel full of humor and heart.
