"Obsessive exercise, calorie counting, low carbs, protein shakes, even working part-time at a women's fitness center...I tried it all! Weight control has been a significant part of my adult life, but I didn't realize that it was all the heaviness in my head that I had to release first! The emotional baggage I had been carrying for years was weighing me down. Today as I write this, my tears of appreciation for this incredible program are rolling down my cheeks and onto a physical body in which I can be proud. Thank you to 8 to Your IdealWeight for giving me my life back!"

First, I'm going to tell you why I love this program, and then I'll tell you why I disagree with some of the statements in the negative reviews (of which there are only a few, but still!)
I ordered this book a little over a year ago, and my book is now one of those curly, almost won't close, highlighted and underlined with various colors and pencil and different pen colors, because I've read it multiple times, and because I've worked the program multiple times.
This program is a lifestyle change, not a quick fix or diet. I tended to eat sweets at night, when I'm lonely or bored or stressed. So I've spent the past several months replacing that go-to with healthy go-to's. This is one of the many changes I've made and am making because of this program.
The 8 ways of living in the book are easy to say, easy to read, and not unique or new, but they are hard to do, and the genius of this book is that it includes practical ways of learning and doing them. It's easy to say and easy to read to be grateful, to express your feelings, but if we were a culture of doing these things, we'd all be thin and happy and successful already!
With this book and program, I can say I now know what actions to take, for example, to be grateful and to express my feelings - I've gone from knowing to do these things to knowing how to do these things, to taking action steps to do these things to doing these things second-naturedly. I am pretty well read and well educated, including with these concepts, and I can't emphasize enough the difference between the knowing to/knowing how to/taking steps to/doing it second-nature.
I'm almost halfway to my ideal weight, and I'm happier and healthier mentally and physically. My friends, family, co-workers have noticed a change in my body and in my way of being. I have too!
I will tell you that the program bans refined sugar and carbs - so no bread, no beer, no sugar, and no artificial sweeteners. Some people may think it's close to paleo or close to keto or close to whole 30. It does allow dairy, and it encourages you to tweak the program as you become closer to understanding the language of your body. For me, I've had to discard dairy and oats too because of health issues I have, and I learned that by learning to listen to my body, a huge benefit I've gained from the program.
I am the kind of person that loves school and community, so I jumped on the chance to get coached by one of the coaches as part of a group. I've met an amazing group of women (online) and have a partner, resources, and access to a coach for weekly coaching sessions. That's not free with the book, but for me it's worth it.
The book can be purchased by itself of course, and you can find a friend and do it together for just the cost of the book. Would it be as beneficial as a group? Probably not, but you may not need the benefit of a group to reach your ideal weight.
So now I turn to the negative reviews:
-This book is designed as an 8 week course, and if you've got a little weight to release, you could probably do it in 8 weeks. If you've got more, then you gotta have the common sense that it's gonna take more than 1 8-week session to reach your ideal weight.
-If someone comes up with a way to change their relationship with food and they write a book about it, and they're so excited by this new way of eating and living that they expand from a book to a coaching system, I'd hope they let me know about every resource to learn about this program! I'm grateful they included the information about the coach and group class. I can also tell the difference between sales pitches and resource offering, and this was much more of a resource offering than a sales pitch - it was mentioned maybe twice. It's a small book with a lot of information in it - there's no room for multiple sales pitches, and I have no tolerance for them, so if I think it's ok, it's ok.
-This isn't a quick fix, this is not a diet. It is a lifestyle change.
For what I paid, I got way more than I expected, and that is why this is getting 5 stars, and why I continue to be part of this small empowering community. It's one of my biggest gratitudes of 2018 and 2019.
Top international reviews
There is literally little to no real advice and all the author is doing is trying to hoax the reader into buying into her slimming program!!
Wish I could give zero stars to it!
I'd give this sales pitch 0 stars if possible.
