I absolutely loved Nora and Sylvester’s story. Sylvester fears his sister-in-law is still alive and threatening him. He hired an inquiry agent to assist in proving he did not murder his brother. But there is more afoot than anyone knows.
Nora escaped her vicar fathers clutches, worked in a pleasure house and is now an inquiry agent for the order. She’s been hired for her first case and warns the customer Lord Deville that her boss is a romantic matchmaker. Both vow not to fall for Daventrys match making schemes.
A wonderful story with a beautiful ending.

This is similar to other books in this series. It's a good mystery and a good amount of steam, which you can easily skip if you aren't fond of that. I just wish there was a bit more depth to the relationship. There's a lot of desire, but not as much emotional connection. And way too much talk about his horrible disfiguring scar, which didn't sound that ghastly to me. A lot of people had scars and various skin conditions and bad teeth back then, I don't really think his scar would make women faint. Anyway, it was still a good read.

As always, the "bad guy" is never the obvious suspect, and Adele does a fantastic job of misleading and surprising you with the truth. However, I just wish there had been more focus on Sylvester and Nora's relationship than the buzzing back and forth they did. Overall I did ultimately enjoy this installment, just not as much as I had hoped ♡

I had a job to put this book down, it had all the elements I like in a story, romance and a mystery. Both Miss Honora Wild and Lord Deville had a troubled background. Honora was an investigating agent and she was assisting Deville with his problem. The more time they spent together, the more they enjoyed each other’s company. There are a number of dangerous events, passionate moments and some surprises and twists. All things guaranteed to keep me reading until the end. This was an entertaining read and I’m looking forward to the next in the series.
