My major problems with the game is that every so often between routines in personal training that it takes ten or so seconds longer to load. I know that this may not seem like such a big thing, but it is annoying mid-workout that you are just standing there thinking do I have enough time to reach for my water bottle before it starts up or will it start up right as I do so (not that it doesn't allow enough to drink at certain points).
The next problem I have with it is that there are not many gym classes available; sure they have cardio boxing (my personal favorite) and zen classes, but not much else without DLC. Then there is the Bollywood dance class (DLC) it doesn't really give you step by step instructions for the moves, but you have to observe and hope you are mimicking the weird somewhat Spanish looking instructor (this is unrelated, but I wished we could change certain instructors or customize them). As for the gym classes that come with the game (Cardio Boxing and Zen) they are pretty fun. I am not going to deny that they are a little annoying when you are taking a class (Cardio Boxing in this case) and you are doing the Boxers combo (this is the set that tends to be much more challenging for myself and my friends on silver or higher) and you are trying to match the instructor's speed and it seems like you are not going fast enough or you are going too fast. I would have liked that the instructor would have been able to adjust its speed to the player not to the point where it is easy or not challenging, but so that it doesn't seem like such a daunting task. As for the Zen class, I have no complaints it is fun and a little basic (not in a bad way).
Now the personal training section is more varied then the gym classes so the player has more choices. This game is advertised as the player will never have to do the same workout twice, but that is a little deceptive. Most of the time you will be doing the same workouts (I consider each one as an individual workout regardless if they are four minutes or thirty minutes long). I don't really care for the gym games; they seem a little Wii-ish by not really being serious. I imagine that many will find them fun or a good way to warm up, but I skip them.
Now here is the section where I say where Your Fitness Evolved can be improved. First in gym classes, perhaps more workout style classes and more relaxing classes like Tai Chi or Yoga. I really wish there was a warm-up section so that you don't pull anything. More customization! I get a little tired of looking at the same (mostly) white background all the time. I wish you could have different environments.
Finally the score. What I really liked about this game is that it made me want to work out more (not at first, about a week or two after playing) and I enjoyed seeing how many calories I was burning each day, but at the same time it was a little annoying where you are kicking (etc) before the instructor and it counting against you, I'd rather not have to adjust to the game by trying to get more out of my workout. So four stars (overall) sounds fair to me because the game doesn't come with a lot unless you want to buy DLC and there are times where it feels like you are in sync with the instructor, but it not registering (which could be a Kinect problem). And five stars for how fun it is, but not always, there are times (especially when you start out) where you feel like it is the most tedious thing you have ever done, but the more you play the more you have fun.
Let me also add that, Red Steel 2 and Assassin's Creed II are two of the most over-hyped 4 and 5 star Ubisoft games that have great reviews that I've ever played (just my personal opinion, don't beat me up). Anyway, I took a gamble, and thought this game could be another Ubisoft over-hyped game. I bought this title based on my opinion that Ubisoft made a great exercise game, and I was right!
I did have a lot of problems at first with space requirements, so I bought a Kinect bracket and placed the sensor on top of my TV, and the problem of space went away. I mostly play the beginning level cardio boxing, which is based on short 5 or 10 minute workouts of punching and kicking. Every time you throw a punch or kick correctly, the on-screen display gives you a green circle that is then filled in, and a rewarding soft chime sound. You can either follow the on-screen character or follow the heads up display. After about 30 seconds or so, the game will tell you how much of a percentage was executed correctly (There are more challenging routines if you prefer, although the MOST challenging requires you buy add-on content).
Afterward, I usually take a water break and play the gym games. The gym games are a lot of fun. I play the Virtual Blocks mostly which is punching and kicking across your body. At the higher levels a pendulum swings across, and you have to duck (squat). I also play the Stack em up game which is holding out your arms and acting like a balance. You have to catch the blocks are drop them in the pit that appears and disappear on either side. If you squat, the blocks come down faster and you receive more points(Your arms will feel the pain after about a couple of rounds of holding them straight out depending on your fitness level, and the squatting isn't easy). At the higher levels, burning blocks will drop and you have to extinguish the fire by raising your corresponding leg. Really fun and challenging.
Overall, this game works very well with the Kinect, and is overall responsive without any lag. I haven't run into any issues regarding any of the programs mentioned above, although I have found tracking issues during the Zen (yoga) activities. Additionally, I would have liked to create my own workout as an option. Overall, I'd have to recommend this game for someone that would like to work out at home, and personally find this routine more motivating than EA Sports Active 2 , although EA has more options like creating your own workout and adding your own music. I personally switch up between the two. If I had to choose one though, I'd choose this one. Being able to edit workouts would make this the perfect title. Hopefully editing workouts for the next Your Shape, will be possible. Until then I will have to include lunges in workouts, which I'd rather just skip because I'm not in good enough shape to perform lunges correctly.

I was working out with this one and the exercises are not bad, but you have to do the introduction all the time. you want to go to a different exercise you cant just go back, turn it back on and you have to do the complete intro again, its asking for your age and what you want.
As for the 2012, you have a go back button, the hand signaling is way better, work out way better. love the 2012. I recommend to buy the 2012.
I'm trying to change the music to something with a bit more rhythm, but haven't found out how o do that. Maybe its in the more experienced, iron-man body levels?!
Having fun with it, is as fun as it can be by sweating in your living room!
