Have you ever wondered what the characters in your favorite books are doing while you're off doing your homework, or watching TV, or surfing the web?

Melanie Watt tackles this question in You're Finally Here!

When you open the book, the bunny asks, "Where were you?" He wants to be happy to see you, but he really wants to know what you've been doing all that time, and how he's suffered. He makes sure we know how long he's been waiting, how boring it is, how unfair and rude and annoying it is.

As he's giving examples of this, any kid will be able to relate (or laugh at) his examples: as annoying as a toilet paper stuck to your shoe, as unfair as being the last kid picked for the team, as rude as sticking gum under the sofa.

This book will make booklovers and silly kids smile.

Why is this book, You're Finally Here, being sold for an absurd amount of money? I can't imagine anyone in there right mind would spend $114.00 for a children's picture book that retails $20 and under.

Great for the beginning of school. It is a cute book and the illustrations are great. My 3rd graders loved it.

Okay, the bunny is cute and usually I love picture books that directly engage the reader, but this one just went a bit too far. Bunny lost a bit of his charm after the third panel of "as rude as..." and "annoying as...." Enough! I get it already. Just not enough funny moments to sustain it as a read aloud, and the whole idea of a contract between the reader and our little furry friend will be lost on most kids. Bunny turns into a phone crazy teenager at the end and the whole book kind of left me scratching my head wondering what age group this one would be best suited for. I don't believe it will make much connection with preschoolers and will probably be far too simple for older kids. This one falls a bit flat for me and is not a recommend.

My students absolutely loved this book the first week of school! I had been trying to get my hands on it but didn't have any luck besides finding it at the library. I am so glad that I was able to find it in stock to keep in the classroom. The kids were excited to write where they were during the summer to answer the question "Where were you?" This is a book that will have the kids laughing the entire time.

Tries for a "Cow and Pig" feel, winds up more annoying than Hoops and Yoyo, but I'm speaking more from an adult point of view, here. Kids? Kids may very well love this and demand it be read many times, they seem to do that. But you, as a parent, are probably going to regret this book by the middle of the first reading.

A rabbit berates you for showing up late to the book. It flips between demanding to know where you are and insisting you get to hanging out, until you get to the "twist" ending.

I normally advise parents to check out a book from the library to try it, first, but be careful with this one. Read it on your own, without kids, and see if you can stand it enough to read multiple times. I surely can't.

This book was hyped with an actual "lay down" date, slick pictures, and distribution.
I personally found the book a bit tedious. So, I tried it out with my kindergarten student I work with for a civic club.
His attention did not stick with the material and he was clearly disinterested half way through the text.
The plot is, perhaps, simple. The ending was not unexpected.
This is the type of book you may wish to check out from the library first and try it out with your read-to-child prior to actually popping for the $15.99 retail.
