Quick and fun to read! It tells the sweet romantic story of Brody and Amanda. When Brody is invited to his best friend's wedding, he finds out that his ex-girlfriend will be attending too. Since, he has a big ego and a successful businessman, he decides he doesn't want to go alone. So he hires Amanda to pretend to be the woman in his life. That's when the fun began! Suddenly, the “pretending” game has turned to a seduction game! Will Amanda catch Brody's heart? Can there be love when their friendship started as a game? Pretending to be lovers, can be fun, but also très risky! I just love the rescue scene!
Lana Williams never disappoints me! Your first venture into contemporary romance is a success!
I am a hard core historical romance reader - if the book is set past 1902, I don't want to read it. In fact, I haven't read a contemporary romance in probably 15 years, so when I was approached by Ms. Williams about reading her newest novella, my first instinct was Thank you, but No Thank you. But when I read the blurb, I thought what the heck, it's just a novella, it looks cute and the change in genre would be good for me. Boy, am I glad I didn't pass on this book!
I have read all Lana Williams books, which up until now have all been historicals, and I adore her writing style. I was curious to see if she could transition from historical to contemporary and still maintain the style I have come to love. Well, fellow readers the answer is Yes, she can!
Brody and Amanda are great characters and their relationship develops at a believable pace. I liked the way they are both interested in changing the original terms of their agreement, but are both a little too nervous/wary to bring it up. When Brody's ex starts to stir things up, I was delighted with Brody's reactions to her. I also found Amanda's reactions to be totally believable and well done.
The novella is well written, flows nicely and feels like a complete story. The love scenes are warm and the ending is very sweet. I understand this book is part of a series, but I had no problems reading this as a stand alone and would have no problems recommending this story to anyone.
I love Ms. Williams’ characters and Brody and Amanda didn’t disappoint. Brody has had more than his fair share of a broken heart, and when facing a wedding where he’d have to face the woman who broke his heart alone, he just couldn’t do it. Hence, Amanda. She’s courageous and bold and in need of cash. it’s a perfect scenario!
During a weekend where they’re supposed to play lovers, they find a mutual attraction. Do they do anything about it? On a tropical island where the inhabitants and the climate all seem to be coaxing them to give in? Well, I’ll let you read the book and find out.
There was adventure, romance, beaches and swimming—and when it’s so cold here it’s amazing to read about someplace warm. :) And through it all, Mr. Williams delivers a romance that’s tender with a couple learning about each other and how to trust each other.
It’s a great adventure to read this book! You’ll love every second of it!
Amanda is what Brody needs but he is surprised to discover just how much he enjoys and wants to please her. The characters sucked me in and didn’t let go until the end of the story. Brody’s ex, Christina was so well written that she really irritated me, just seeing her name on the page. Amanda and Brody were meant for each other but past experiences caused trust issues for both.
The descriptive setting made you feel like you were along for the ride and their indulgence was…nothing short of fantastic. I’m ready to go to Indulgences Resort! LOL
Well done Ms. Williams! I highly recommend Yours for the Weekend, An April Indulgence!
