This travelogue is not the shiny, glossy travel DVD I expected. It was so much more. I found it to be a compelling view on the Mayans, both past and present. I bought the DVD because I knew nothing of the Mayan culture. One of the first things I liked about this presentation was the inclusion of a map and an itinerary of the Yucatan tour. I could see exactly where the present Mayan towns, villages, or cities were located and the ancient monuments that would be of interest to the traveler. Difficult words to understand and pronounce such as the names of pyramids or ancient Mayan rulers were spelled out at the bottom of the screen. The historical information provided was not only fascinating, but exactly what I wanted to learn. As an arm-chair traveler, I found this DVD extremely informative and entertaining. If I were to travel the Yucatan, I would certainly turn to this DVD to get the recommended places to stay and restaurants to eat.

I'm glad a only spent a few bucks on renting this. Still, I feel robbed... Presentation style is odd and fluctuates between poor footage and weird attempts at creativity. Felt like I was watching a poorly done student project.
