I opened it the night I got back, and was quite impressed with the cards and the amount of cards I received.
Again, these are 3 solid decks, and I think they are playable in a competitive setting, maybe not top of the line, but excellent decks.
I do not play much Yugioh, I am more of a competitive MTG player and want to become better at the Yugioh TCG. I am also looking for good decks to play right off the shelf, and this product definitely fit that bill.
You get most the odd-eyes cards and the starving venom and gravity dragon. You also get the clear wing synchro monster. The two other decks are also handsomely put together and contain a solid foundation for building a dark magician themed deck or going cyber dragon. Box also contains Infinity, which I was told by competitive players it is one of the best cards in the game.
So, well worth the $30 retail price.
The US Yu-gi-oh cards, including the foils, stayed flat and pristine. I received both sets within the same week and I also barely played with either of them. I sleeved both the US and UK cards fresh from their packaging. Other than the card stock quality, the ink, and texture quality looks and feels about equal with each other. There is one other difference between the two, and although this part doesn't matter as much to me; the back side of the US card is colored a little more yellow and the UK version is tinted a little more redder.
However I still really like this product overall because there are many great reprints in this set at a very reasonable price. Any old Yu-gi-oh nostalgic player will love to have this as a gift and it's a must have for people who want to start building a competitive Dark Magician deck. I would have given this a 5 out of 5 stars, but because the card stock quality isn't consistent I have to subtract a star.
The only major drawback about this deck set is that the really good key cards for some of the decks only have a single copy meaning you would have to buy multiple sets. This would not be so bad if there were not so many copies of cards in each deck. The decks have some copies of the common cards which makes them good if you only buy one of these. However you will miss out on having a play set on some of the better cards if you didn't have them already. This thus diminishes the returns of getting multiple decks to make playsets of the more important cards.
legendary dragons of atlantis - 51 cards, a good chunk of the deck is atlantis dragons, but to be fair, it's really a 'dark magician deck featuring the atlantis dragons'. all five foil cards in this deck are dark magician support cards, but it's a really strong dark magician deck. the one thing that i'm kinda scratching my head on is that it brings 'dark paladin' but not the 'buster blader' needed to fusion summon it. ideally, i would swap out 'absolute crusader' for 'buster blader'. but all around solid deck. this deck alone is selling for $30 alone, so that should tell you something.
cyber dragon deck - 51 cards, another very solid deck. all five foil cards are cyber dragon support cards. all monsters except one are cyber dragon monsters or cyber dragon support; all monsters are machine type and all the spells/traps are either cyber dragon support or machine support. i hate when these pre-made structure decks have generic staples that would work in any deck. it's nice to see some archetype fidelity. this is another deck that's selling around $25 by itself. so this is a great value.
dimensional dragons deck - 51 cards, a very interesting deck. i stopped collecting actual cards in the GX era, so my last real deck was a neos fusion deck. i watched 5Ds and used synchro monsters in the DS games, but never owned any myself. same with xyz, i never really liked yu-gi-oh zexal. yu-gi-oh arc v was a little better but until recently, i didn't have a game with the newer cards anyway, so there was no way i'd ever have pendulum monsters. this deck is interesting because it gives you a bit of each type of summoning: ritual, fusion, synchro, xyz and pendulum. but much like the atlantis deck, this is really an odd eyes dragon deck featuring the dimensional dragons.
so all in all three pretty good decks for the price, but as i opened up the packaging, i was really expecting at least one additional item to be included in the box. something, maybe some boosters, a coin, or even one of those dueling mats that are usually included with decks. but alas, it's just three decks, no more, no less.
i give this item four stars because it is a bit misleading to label these decks are an 'atlantis dragons' deck or 'dimensional dragons deck', when they are in fact not the central themes of these decks. the only one that actually achieves what it states is the cyber dragon deck. none the less, it's a good value and they are solid decks, ready for high-level play. tournament even, maybe.
