The original Giggles have a crisp, shiny, fruity shell, chewy middle, no icky added chemicals or fake dyes, and are allergy-friendly. They don’t taste exactly like Skittles, but are close enough to be satisfying.
The sour Giggles (and this is coming from someone who joyfully eats lemons whole) are insanely sour, like erode-the-surface-of-your-tongue-sour, so sour you won’t be able to distinguish between flavours, and your esophagus and digestive tract will start to burn. I didn’t get brain freeze; I got brain-soured, but it felt like the same thing. The citric acid also softens the Giggles so that they lose their crisp Skittle-like shell. None of these factors stopped me from eating the sour ones, and subsequently I had the inside of my cheeks burn away. I’d recommend safety warnings: NOT SAFE FOR CHILDREN and NOT SAFE FOR CANDY ADDICTS (who may continue eating them anyway, even as their face melts). Oh, and my tongue turned yellow. That was weird.
