Product Description

Yuneec Breeze is the flying camera designed with you in mind. Capture aerial photos and video of your daily adventures effortlessly – and do it in stunning 4K Ultra High Definition with the option of 13 megapixel stills. Both convenient and compact, Breeze is controlled by your iOS or Android device with the Breeze Cam app.

Breeze can hold its position both indoors and outdoors, which makes it safe for any occasion. Breeze is equipped with Indoor Positioning Sensors (IPS) that use textures on the ground to hold its position. Breeze also has an infrared sensor that gives centimeter accuracy of altitude.

It was our vision to create a product that was incredibly easy for anyone to use, so we’ve custom designed 5 automated flight modes that give you the ability to focus on capturing the most epic content of yourself instead of controlling the drone:

Pilot: In Pilot mode you have the most control. Using the traditional two-stick R/C control method, you can fly the drone anywhere around you manually utilizing the Breeze Cam app.

Selfie: In Selfie mode anyone can position the drone even without prior flight experience. Use the distance, altitude, and position sliders to adjust the position of the drone.

Orbit: In Orbit mode you can easily task the Breeze to orbit around you or another object. After positioning the Breeze, you can select orbit left, right, or pause the orbit at any time.

Journey: In Journey mode the Breeze uses the Selfie mode interface for positioning the drone. The camera pitch determines the angle the drone will fly at, and you can adjust how far it goes.

Follow Me: In Follow Me mode you fly the Breeze manually to the location you want the drone to follow you from. After setting its position, the Breeze will react to your movements and follow along.

Once you’ve captured photos and videos with Breeze, downloading and sharing via your favorite social media is quick and easy. Select the photo or video you would like to share and choose which social network you would like to share to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr, WhatsApp, Google+, WeChat, etc. You can write a personalized message and share instantly, all without leaving the app interface. It’s that simple.

UPDATE: I contacted Yuneec about this and they promptly repaired the item. The fixed unit works well and doesn't have the issues that caused the crash. As a result, I have to give proper credit for a company that stands behind its product. I have updated my star rating accordingly.

First off, most of the reviews here are from folks who received the product for free. I paid for my Yuneec Breeze. In ten flights, my Breeze completely went out of control twice and the second time, it just stopped in mid-air, fell thirty feet and completely destroyed. When it worked it was great, but when it loses connection, you can kiss $500 goodbye. This is what happened to me. So, this is a warning for those of you thinking about purchasing this. I wish someone had warned me before I made the purchase. The instructions and videos say this drone is supposed to safely land, but in both instances with me, it just went out of control or continue to ascend and then stop completely in mid-air. I have attached a photo of my destroyed Breeze as proof.

The build quality is pretty good, and having two batteries and an easy to carry device were definitely bonuses. That being said, once it became flight time the fun flew away. I quickly found that it does not like flying over the vast majority of indoor setups. Had I first had the user manual I would have not bought this product. Here are the indoor flight limits: No flying over- sparse surfaces, surfaces with patterns/textures, reflective surfaces, water, moving surfaces, or moving objects like blowing grass or animals, areas with lighting changes, dark or bright surfaces, surfaces with repeating textures or patterns... When I managed to find a surface capable of taking off from, the drone had a tendency to wander the room rather than hover in place. I have darker carpet in my house. When I take off from the bed, which is the only surface I've found that does not throw a warning preventing takeoff, if the drone drifts over my carpet rather than reacting like the FAQ says and maintaining altitude, it goes up altitude and tries to power through the ceiling. To make matters worse, it would not land or react to the emergency button when this happened. I had to resort to the risky grab it out of the air and hit the power button the stop the props. On my tests where I manged to keep it from trying to scrape the ceiling, the constant warnings from the "Optical Flow Module" made the already sluggish tablet/phone based controls neigh unusable. The tablet/phone controls, while seeming nice at first as you have less gear to manage actually turns out to be a negative. The lack of a controller and joysticks that go with it means you have no fine control. What control you do have is very limited.Read more ›

Garbage, followed all instructions and upon first flight I set it on selfie mode and clicked take off. The drone took off went and started flying vertically at full speed and then smashed into the ground. On the freakin first flight. What a waste of $500, I'm going to try to get a replacement and hopefully I will get one but I doubt it. Hopefully I'll be able to update this review if I can ever get to actually try this drone.

Please go to youtube and research "Yuneec Breeze Wifi issues" before you buy this product from Yuneec. You will see dozens of videos from people who cannot get their Breeze to bind more than a couple of times. The Breeze will not stay connected to wifi for more than a few minutes and the task of binding is so frustrating because you might get it to bind one in fifty times. sitting there pushing the "Ask to join Networks" button over and friggin over........ I chalked it up as people who did not know what they were doing or one offs and I bought one. I am so mad at myself. Do not do the same thing, you will be as frustrated as me, sitting here typing out my first review in my life just to get past it. Yuneec you suck.......

After looking at all the other alternative drones and with this being my first one, I decided NOT to go with the Phantom 3 or Phantom 4 or the Mavic Pro.
If you are a 1st time drone user and were nervous about if you could really fly a drone without crashing the first time and throwing away $400, let me put your mind at ease.
Here is the key to this drone. You start it with your smart phone. It lifts off by itself at about 3 feet. Then hovers and waits for your next command. On your smart phone, you guide the drone up turn left or turn right, take your hand off your smart phone, then it hovers and waits for your next command. So easy. I love it
The only drawback is the battery life. 10-12 mins. But, 2 batteries comes with the drone and I bought 1 extra. So, basically 30 mins of fly time which honestly is more than enough for what I am doing.

The learning curve is intense on this. And where do you practice? I can't find ANY good tutorials out there. The images on the app are tiny. I've yet to find the "home" button. Ugh.

Update: I've attempted two flights. During the first, the Breeze flew in an out of control loop until I shut off my tablet. It then went into "home" mode, flew up until it was almost out of sight, returned to hover about 5' off the ground. I had to grab it out of the air and push the power button.

After fruitless searching for an operations manual and watching ridiculous unboxihg videos, I finally found a video with some clear screeps hots of the controls.

I recalibrated, put it in selfie-mode and hit 'go'. Once again, it went out of control and started looping. I hit 'home' but it's loop took so far out that it crashed into a handicapped parking sign, causing fatal damage.

I'm Yuneec will send me a replacement, a user guide, and their thoughts as to why it flies out of control.
