A completion level of ready-to-fly (RTF) means this version of the Q500 4K Typhoon Quadcopter with CGO3-GB Camera, SteadyGrip, and Camera Aluminum Case Camera and Aluminum Case from Yuneec comes factory-assembled and that a pre-bound transmitter/ground station unit (radio controller) is included. More than just an RC multi-rotor, the Q500 4K Typhoon is designed for APV - aerial photography and video. To this end, it incorporates the CGO3-GB, a 3-axis gimbal-stabilized camera with 4K video recording, 1080p video recording at up to 120 fps, and shoots photos at 12-megapixels.
The Q500 4K Typhoon is bundled with the ST10+ Personal Ground Station, a 10-channel, 2.4 GHz transmitter and 5.8 GHz video receiver rolled into one hand-held unit. In addition to traditional RC joysticks to pilot the quadcopter, there is a built-in Android mobile device which boasts a 5.5" touchscreen - a bump from the original ST10, which has a 4.5" screen. It allows you to view an FPV (first-person view) video image from the camera along with telemetry data superimposed, as well as access settings not available through normal transmitter.

Pros: It was fairly easy to put together and the camera quality was incredible. Light weight, very easy to box and move around, very sleek and stylish.
Cons: (Based on my experience after all hell broke loose, literally) It wasn't even more than 50 feet above me when it stopped obeying the commands of my controller with a full fresh battery and the safety of a front yard. No matter what I did to try to bring it down and away from the light post, it just keep drifting around and eventually smashed right into the light post breaking the propellers into pieces and launching the battery out like a cannonball which (must be noted) after a successful practice flight in the backyard for 50 feet as well. I call customer service and waited 80 minutes to even talk to somebody and by the time those 80 minutes were up, whoever picked up the phone than immediately hung up on me by either accident or on purpose. I called again and waited another 80 minutes. This time someone finally spoke to me and emailed me about fixing it and sending it the telemetry stuff. I emailed them some questions and it's been about 2 weeks with no answer at all. I called every day for a week straight after waiting a week to have a response to my email and the machine at Yuneec kept saying, "We're currently at a Company Function please call back later." And hung up on me. A whole week straight of this. I now call once every couple days and have been put on hold for 2 hours straight past their closing time which means they hung up on me as soon as 5:00PM hit. I can't be on the phone all day at work just so I can finally get some help from these people. I have yet to receive any reply by call or email at all. I do not recommend this whatsoever.
My son and I have really enjoyed flying this beauty and are very impressed with the image, stability of the gimbal and ease of control.
I spent all this money for a product that crashed on its second flight, while in normal operations. Too bad the normal operation was 100 feet in the air and the copter barreled down until it was smashed into pieces.
I bought this before the summer. When it arrived, it was much larger than expected, but I was still excited. When it broke, I thought that surely it would be covered by a warranty. The customer service line wavered because there was no SD card recording flight data, something I was completely unaware was required. Regrettably I spent $60 to ship the huge box to their repair facilities. 4 months later they came back saying it was complete, but I would need to pay $240 for the fix.
Customer service was barely present and the Intel investment seems to have only made its way into higher end products from Yuneec; and even then, its an obstruction avoidance system and something that is probably done better by DJI.
My advice - though DJI products are all more expensive, there is no point in wasting your money on this, as I did

My best guess is that a propeller sheared in midair while hovering. I was able to collect most of the missing pieces, and it appears that a propeller...Read more
