Steamed Green Beans with Almonds

1 - 1 1/2 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed and halved if desired
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup slivered or sliced almonds
1 tablespoon butter
Squeezed fresh lemon juice
Salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste

Steam the green beans until tender, about 7 - 10 minutes.
Heat the oil in a pan and add the almonds. Saute over medium heat until lightly browned, bout 2 minutes.
Add the green beans and butter.
Turn off the heat and give it a squeeze of lemon juice.
Toss together and season to taste with salt and pepper.

I have been snacking on these for months by purchasing the small bags at the grocery from the baking aisle. Not only do they not last long, but they can be fairly expensive to purchase. I found this large bag and decided to give it a try. It has been a great option. I can put a serving size in a container for snacking and still have plenty left over. The flavor is a little better than the ones in the baking aisle at the store, so that is also a bonus in addition to the money I am saving. I am grateful that I found these.
