So if you want really comfortable earbuds and quality sound, this brand is really a great choice. Especially if you have weird ears that don't seem to fit most earbuds. The ends that go into the ears may seem a little invasive at first if you've never tried ones like these, but you'll get used to that fast. After two years, they're still working perfectly (better than my Beats headphones). I just bought a new pair from this brand today that has magnets in the back of each earbud and a microphone to use for calling, so we'll see how that works out! Hoping to use these as my main way of talking to the boyfriend on the phone after I move out of state. I am in love with this brand of earbuds!
And of course the older style doesn't stay in the ear all that well - they tend to be easy to dislodge with an unexpected tug on the cable or shake of the head.
So I stumbled across the Yurbuds style and figured they were worth a try. The bit that goes into the ear itself didn't thrill me, looking at the photos - but as it turns out, it's SOOOOO much less intrusive than the plug-up-your-ear-canal sort, that I don't mind it at all. Plus, I believe that protrusion works with the shape of the rest of the silicone covering to make these buds so secure.
Speaking of security: I have never had one of these buds fall out. The in-canal sort are easily dislodged with an accidental cord tug. Ditto the old style. The Yurbuds stay put despite any tugging, catching on clothing, etc. Bear in mind, I wear them while walking, not while running, but they feel like they'd behave even if I started jogging.
Sound quality: I'm not an audiophile but they sound fine to me.
Noise isolation: none. They aren't advertised as providing that - in fact they're explicitly described as allowing ambient noise to get past. I think of it as a safety feature - you can hear people and vehicles approaching you. I will note that if you're on an especially busy street, these just won't work, as traffic noise drowns them out. So if you want noise reduction, these aren't the right phones for you.
Another reviewer grumbled about the cord being too long. Yes, the cord on these is long - you could probably have your device in your pants pocket while running. I'd rather too long than too short, as a cord that's too long can easily be dealt with using a cord wrap like VELCRO Brand - ONE-WRAP For Cables, Wires & Cords - 5" x 1/4" Ties, 10 Ct. - Brights, a dedicated cord clip, or even an old alligator-style badge clip.
I have no clue what the "for women" thing means, unless it's the pretty purple color. My ears are average to large for a woman, and they feel fine, so I don't think it's just that they're smaller than the regular size.
Update after owning these for a few months:
One of the silicone ear things (they're called "enhancers" for some odd reason) fell off when I was carrying them from one room to another. It hasn't turned up. That doesn't affect the sound quality as far as I can tell, but it does reduce their stay-in-the-ear power, which is really the main reason to go with this brand and design. You can purchase replacement enhancers - at about 10 dollars a pair, which is extortionate. You can get knockoff covers from eBay for a LOT less, look for terms like "Earphone Earbuds Cover for Yurbuds Focus Inspire Ironman Duro". I can't vouch for how well those work, but I'll likely try that at some point.
The other annoyance about getting replacement "enhancers" is that they come in sizes. Are those ear sizes? Would different sizes work on the same pair of earbuds? I have no idea.
Secondly: I don't use them daily, so you couldn't say they've seen heavy usage. Unfortunately, they've begun to malfunction: when I'm trying to use them, I have to get the plug angle >>>>juuuuuuust right<<<< or they don't produce sound at all. This is a real disappointment, since otherwise I absolutely loved them. I'm actually considering getting another pair of the same style, hoping they last a bit better. But between the durability, and the lost cover, I'm downgrading my rating.
I'm not rating the sound quality, although, to my untrained ear, these sound quite good and clear for audiobooks and zoning out to some tunes. For those picky about the sound, you'll want to do your own research on the subject.
These are absolutely my favourite earbuds. I have fairly sensitive and small ears so the typical ear bud styles are often too big and, or hurt like hell. These are super comfortable and do-not-fall-out! Mine came with two different sized earbud covers and the smaller ones fit perfect. I gave my sister the other larger set to try on her own earbuds since the ear buds themselves appear to be pretty round and standard and might be able to fit on another brand. I actually haven't tried that though and I haven't gotten a follow up from my sister about that. ..Maybe it didn't workout for her.
