I use the SmartThings platform and I experienced some minor pairing problems with some units. However, with some patience and continuous tries, every unit paired. These are powered by a CR123 battery, and is monitored through your system.
Ordered 6 of these in my first batch. 3 have been installed on windows and 3 are installed on doors. Due to the trim around my doors I had to put the main unit on the door and the magnet on the frame. Only had pairing problems with one of them the other 5 paired right away. I am using SmartThings to control my Z-Wave network.
When it came to pairing it with our Z-Stick, it went fairly smoothly. The only awkward part, is that the sensor goes into pairing mode as soon as you pull the tab in the back. If you pull that too soon, to put it into pairing mode again, you have to open it up and remove the battery for several seconds, which is a bit of a pain.
Words of caution: first, be careful when wiring into the terminals. They are soldered on, and can snap. Mine didn't, but I made sure to keep pressure on the block when moving the wires around. Second, the space for wire to come into the sensor and then into the terminals is tight. I had to have some info the wire come up over the block. I was still able to get the top back on though, not a problem. Finally, the screws on the block are small. They use a flathead screw driver, but my Craftsman mini drivers could not fit in. A jeweler's set would have helped.
The response is pretty quick. Some tried to say it took about 2 seconds to respond, but I was seeing responses in the ~250-500ms.
Finally, yes, I did use one of these to integrate my hard wired motion sensor. I don't know if their version of a motion sensor had a terminal block, so I just used this. It works fine. The only issue I have is that ST thinks it's a door/window, so I have to tell it differently. I might be able to change that with the IDE, but have not tried yet. I hope this helps someone. It took me a while to determine which units I wanted to use.
