ZAGG offers a lifetime warranty in which they send you a replacement (this is important, they send you the new one first) with a return envelope and you send the old one back. Sometimes you pay for shipping, sometimes you don't. They offer free shipping (which is the default) on their site. You'll need a card number for the process because in 60 days you'll be charged for the replacement if you don't send it back.
Alternatively, there's ZAGG retailers around the world (you can type in your location on the website or search Google) which will happily do replacements for you provided they're in stock. I'll get to that in a second.
Which one should you get? There's a few to choose from.
Original: The first and cheapest at $15 retail. Scratch protection. I don't recommend this because there's the HD. If you're looking for something quick and cheap, sure. It has a rubbery feel and tends to discolor and peel after some use. You won't notice this discoloration until you peel it off most of the time.
HD: The better cheap option. Also scratch protction at $20 retail - it's clearer, thicker (not by noticeable amount), and doesn't discolor quite as badly. If you're going cheap, get this. It has a less rubbery feel, to boot.
HDX: The new contender/old replacement for $25 retail. ZAGG used to sell Extreme for $35 retail which got replaced by this Extreme/HD crossover. Extreme was a much thicker Original, this is a much thicker HD; however this is scratch and shatter protection. Drop it, kick it, throw rocks at it, it'll protect your screen from breaking. It has the same feel as the HD and will most likely (eventually) peel like the HD.
Glass: At $35 retail, this is the most expensive item. It's tempered glass so it has the glass-like smoothness you're used to with your phone. Some go to the edge, some do not. Like the HDX, this is also shatter protection, however it is very unlikely to actually peel after time. It does have the downside of breaking, however.
If you're a person that constantly abuses their phone, go HDX. If you aren't and you want something that looks and feels good, go glass. If you're cheap and know you won't drop your phone, go HD.
Caveat: Don't expect it to do much where it's not protecting. ie the edges. Get a case or at least a bumper with the new iPhones. You'll have to do it any way you look at it and there's some cheap options out there if you're looking for that. I personally got a Tech21, though that's simply because it's the best case for my model of phone. Do some research.
Another caveat: Don't expect this to last forever. Much like everything in the world, it isn't entirely future-proof. I've seen Originals that lasted five years and Glass/HDX that only lasted a week. How long you make it last is entirely up to you.
Note: All ZAGG products have a CF (Case-Friendly) version that don't go all the way to the edge so you can fit it under OtterBoxes and LifeProofs and such. If you discover later that you need a CF version (or vice-versa) then you can always get the replacement without having to pay for the other version.
Notes on installing:
Have a strong light source pointed at the phone but not in your eyes. It helps to see dust.
Use the microfiber cloth to clear off dust, not to dry the phone. Use a towel or something for that.
Use the squeegee, it helps. Or if you have a bit of rubber, that's better.
Sometimes you get spray solution, sometimes you don't. If you don't, soap and water. More soap = more slippery. Use your head and find your own perfect medium.
There's two different kinds of installs, dry and wet. I prefer wet installs because it's easy to fix mistakes.
Wet install means you spray the phone and underside (sticky side) of the shield and put it down. It dries after a fashion (24-48 hours, there will be streaks and bubbles that appear post-install but they'll go away) - just make sure to spray the top of the shield and squeegee the water out from underneath. If you need to, grab a fan and put it under that for a few seconds to stop it sliding around.
Dry install means you clean the phone off (VERY important you do that so there's not a speck of dust on it) and carefully put the shield on and peel the plastic off. If there's bubbles, use the squeegee, it's pretty easy if you do it right.
Original, HD, and HDX are a breeze. Use a wet install and if there's dust, just peel it up again, use the squeegee on the underside, and spray it down again. You don't have to place it perfectly the first time, just get it close and you can budge it a bit.
Glass is difficult because it's a dry install and if there's dust it's hard to get out. If it's near an edge, try very carefully using an x-acto knife, but if it's not or it's past 24 hours, don't bother trying.
Caveat: If you wait 24 hours and notice some dust, it's going to be very difficult to get it out and have it looking nice again. Make sure it's good right away before letting it dry.
Finally, if you don't want to install it yourself then there's ZAGG retailers around the globe that will happily do it for you for a fee. Personally I charge $5 for phones and $10 for tablets, but it varies. Likewise, if you need a replacement you can usually get one from a retailer at the same price (most of them won't just give you one to take home and try to install yourself) - for less than or the same cost as shipping in some cases, it's not a bad deal.
It's easy to see from the photos what a real ZAGG vs knockoff looks like. The packaging is different, the glass is different, and the wipes/etc are different. NOT REAL ZAGG GLASS.
If you look throughout all the different products, most of them with the exception of around 3 or 4 all face the same challenge - the curved edges! If you pay for a protector that is full glass to the edge, expect to pay a premium price. On top of the 750 I paid for the 6S, there's no way I would pay 50 dollars more just for a screen protector that could break and need to be replaced.
That's the first advantage I see to getting the zagg. Although you pay a little money for shipping, if anything happens they will send you a new one. Not a bad deal!
Okay, so let's talk quality. Installation was easy, although I had to try a second time to get it just right. Because it only fits over the flat part of the screen, it's REALLY hard to get it just right. As correct around the home button a I could get it, There is still some ghosting around the edges at the top. Actually, All sides except the bottom are experiencing some ghosting where it's a little over the border. It's not really bothersome though because it's even. Who knows. Maybe one day, ZAGG will come up with something and replace it for free.
The overall clarity of the glass is really nice. I did notice that there is a one inch streak that holds oil more than the rest of the screen. If I really clean it, you can't see it at all. However, it's noticeable when the screen is off and there's some oil on the screen. When the phone is on though, you can't see it.
The durability has so far proven to be okay. Not one single scratch on it whatsoever. I do take particularly good care of my phone by not putting it in my pocket, but usually there would be a scratch or two that have crept onto the screen. If you get it in the sunlight, it does look like there are some microscopic scratches, but I do believe that to be in the make of the glass. Not noticeable at all unless you're as freaky OCD as myself haha! Unlike some people, I haven't experienced even the slightest amount of chipping. It may be because I applied the protector extremely square onto the screen, and I use an Otterbox Symmetry case that keeps most things from touching the edge of the screen protector.
I'll be purchasing another one for my spouse as I feel this is the best option available at the time. The spiegen one looks nice as well, but people say it doesn't completely cover the LCD part of the glass. This one does if put on correctly.
