Product Description

The Korean game played with these cards is more often referred to as Godori, or Go-stop.

The Hwa-tu cards are approximately 1 3/8" wide by 2 1/8" high and are smaller and thicker than playing cards used in the West.

The face of these plastic cards is glossy, while their back is often rough, with a texture in relief, to prevent them from slipping while held in a hand or from sliding on the table.

Hwa-tu makes a satisfying "snap" sound when thrown down with vigor.

The quality of the cards is excellent. The directions were incomplete. Maybe whoever packaged it accidentally left a page out? The directions I received are on a single page, and it explains the card groupings, the game setup, and the player turns. It lacked any details on how the game ends, any scoring, etc. Because I can get the directions online, I can live with this, but I much prefer to have a complete game and set of instructions together, so I’ll have to print some out and keep it stored with the game. Still, the quality of the cards is nice and the game seems quite fun!

Not sure why people are saying this is low quality. Korean flower cards are normally very small and made of plastic. These cards are perfectly size, made of thick plastic, and authentic. I was a bit concerned these were too thin or made of cardboard since people were complaining about the quality. Although I'm satisfied overall, I do have some concerns. For almost $10, I expected a bit more from the case and design of the cards. The case is made of cheap plastic and doesn't even lock. As for the cards, they're branded with some "Sunrise" logo. I don't mind it on the paulownia card because it's subtle and the rain card since there's an alternative card. However, it's right in the center of the grass gwang card!

If you don't mind the subtle branding, then these cards are fine. Quality-wise, these are great cards.

These cards are cheap and study and for the most part well made. The particular set I received had a few cards that had some dents and print issues (as seen in photo), but aside from that, they play just fine. I also like that the backs are non-slip. It makes it easier to hold.

My Korean friend taught me how to play this game. He told me that it is so popular in Korea that every Korean plays this game when they get together. It is very interesting and exciting. There are so many rules and possibilities to earn points. This is not just a simple game. You need to use your brain.

When I saw the cards for this game, they looked so small. After playing a few times, it felt so comfortable to hold the cards. I understand why they need to be small.

My Korean friend told me that this card game is better than what he bought at a Korean market. As soon as I received it, I counted them to make sure the box came with all the cards.
It has 48 flower cards plus 5 jokers. I am going to buy more and give them to my family as a Christmas gifts.

While I was surprised at the small size of these cards when they arrived, I was equally impressed by how sturdy and vibrant they are! (The small size actually makes them convenient to stow in a pocket or a purse so we can easily play at our local tavern.) I only have 2 problems preventing a 5-star rating: 1. The purple on the "May" and "November" cards is very dark. It looks like black when we play in low-lit areas. 2. There were no instructions included with the deck. I was able to find great instructions online, but including them with the deck would be a plus.

These are absolutely beautiful cards! My other half wanted to get in touch with her korean roots, so after seeing this played a lot on korean dramas we had to give it a go.

It's easy to work out how to play from the instructions but then you can learn in more depth by looking online to work out betting and more nuanced rules. We worked all this out in an hour and really enjoyed the game.

The cards are well made and beautiful to look at. We will enjoy them for years to come.
