Since it is easy to find all the technical specs to this machine, I simply want to comment on my experience with my Asus Zenbook-1AK3 that I ordered new from an Amazon seller. First, it is a beautiful, small, and sleek machine. Of all my years of owning notebook and netbook computers, I have never had compliments from strangers on how beautiful and sophisticated my machine looks. I was recently in Starbucks, and several people asked about it. This ultrabook is certainly an attention-grabber. I've had it for slightly over a month, and it has surpassed my expectations. This is my first experience with a solid state hard drive, and I am amazed at the instant on: basically I close the lid, and the machine instantly goes to sleep, and can stay asleep for days or weeks while the battery level remains at about the same level. I open it up, and the ultrabook instantly pops awake where I left off. There is virtually no need to ever turn it off! Even the power charger is elegantly designed -- it is small, and reminds one of the square iphone charger. This model is the 128 gb hard drive model, and this is the only negative about the machine. I was used to having a 500gb hard drive. After I installed Word and Excel and a few other minor programs, there was only about 60 gb free. It takes some getting used to. I bought a 64gb usb thumb drive, and that helps, and I have a 1 TB external usb drive. I am learning to rotate my music collection on the machine and just load a few movies at a time on the machine. On average, I get about 7 hours of use per battery charge. Overall, it is a great purchase, and of the ten or so notebook computers that I have owned over the years, this is my favorite!

After much soul-searching I bought this instead of a Macbook Air because 1)I didn't want to pay the Apple tax, and 2)pretty much all the software I need to run is windows-based anyway. The machine is sleek, lightweight, and has a futuristic feel to it. Its reasonably fast (I'm not a gamer), and does exactly what I want it to. With the solid state drive, its very quiet (apparently the fan noise issue some reviews mention has been resolved), and I can jostle it around while it running without worrying about damaging the drive. Battery life isn't quite what's claimed (maybe it if you crank all the power-saving options to maximum it would be), but that was easily resolved with a $50 external battery pack from ebay. Like every other one out there, the touchpad is kind of clumsy, but my bluetooth mouse linked up painlessly and works fine.

My only complaint? The cloth case/sleeve shipped with the unit had its snap installed in not quite the right place, so it wouldn't snap closed. I sent it off to ASUS for replacement two months ago, and heard nothing. Now they say its lost, and they're looking for it. They're alienating a $1000 customer over a $10 case. Go figure.

I did a lot of research to an alternative to MacBook air. I needed something super mobile, very thin and compact. This ASUS ZenBook UX21A turned out to be the perfect solution. I have always built my own desktops and have built several for friends and family over the years and have always used ASUS components so am very familiar with ASUS brand and its high quality computer components.

It allows me to stay highly mobile can shut and resume instantly within 2 seconds so am not tied down to my desktop all the time. It is super light and thin with a small footprint. Surprisingly fast and very responsive.

I have had no issues with the SSD drive although it is 128GB but I have a media server so space is not an issue. The wireless is very fast and strong, I was concerned about the chassis being all metal it may interfere with wireless performance but thus far no issues.

It stays quiet and cool. Has a nice Bang & Olufsen speaker system that is quite impressive for such a compact unit and ultrabook.

I also like the fact that the keyboard has a backlight (adjustable) and I can turn it off or on.

Blue tooth works flawlessly, was able to instantly synch up several Bluetooth devices on the first attempt!

It comes with a really nice high quality carry case.

Only thing I feel it lacks is a memory card slot, I know such a compact form factor it would be difficult to put in any more slots but a "MicroSD" slot would have been awesome.

The USB 3.0 ports are very fast indeed!

I purchased this via Amazon.com and the transaction was smooth with no issues and it arrived faster that I expected.

I've owned this for nearly 3 years now and it is holding up great! With WIndows 10 and the SSD, I couldn't be happier with the speed of this laptop. I've had to buy a new AC power adapter, but so far this has been the longest living laptop I've owned so far. This laptop is also staying strong at that $700 price point, even 3 years later which says something.

The 1 issue I've encountered thus far is with regards to the battery. If I'm running at or below 20% battery and watching Netflix or YouTube, the laptop will just kill over and immediately shut down as if the power had gone out. I can turn the laptop back on, but it will kill over if I run a program that pushes the CPU to the max. The best way I found to remedy this problem is to adjust the maximum processor state within advanced power settings. I changed the value to 95% when on battery, and the laptop is flawless once again. Your mileage may vary when adjusting this value, but this setting essentially underclocks your CPU so it doesn't suck up so much power from the battery.
