Great HTPC in a small package

I bought the ID61 to connect to my HDTV to play videos and to stream videos to my other devices on the network. It does both of these things perfectly well. I put a SSD and 8GB of RAM inside and everything is instant. Boot time is 9 seconds with Windows 8 Pro 64-bit installed. After updating the BIOS the fan noise goes down considerably but I still went ahead and lowered it even further using the BIOS. My only complaint about my experience with the ID61 is that there is a bug in the BIOS that makes the fan rev up to 80% after you wake it up from sleep. That makes the fan noise too much for me so I have resorted to shutting the unit down when I'm not using it. That's literally my only complaint so far.

Overall the machine works great. No problems so far.
Windows 8 Professional with Media Center works great on this processor and it makes a great low cost HTPC.
Adding memory is no problem.

The drivers on their website was an issue. Please contact someone at ZotacUSA via email for current drivers if you don't see all of the drivers you need for Windows 8. They sent me current drivers via email.

The warranty for this product is the worst. You have a very limited time to register for the warranty (14 days) and there are so many disclaimers that you almost know that it will be hard to get it fixed if you have a problem.
The bottom panel has flimsy clips. One broke off of one of these when I pulled the bottom panel off one of them. Fortunately the rubber bottom feet that screw on the bottom panel will hold the bottom panel in place.

Again, I had no problem getting it up and running and am quite satisfied with it other than the warranty.

Great mini-HTPC

I'm using this to run XBMC as my primary HTPC to replace an old, giant rig I made from spare computer parts. At first I was worried it would not be powerful enough to run full-HD videos, but it works great! I'm using an SSD and 4 gigs of RAM running Windows 7 64-bit. It's connected to my home theater system, so the HTPC itself doesn't have to decode the audio, which saves some processing power. The gigabit ethernet allows it to stream 1080p mkv movies from my desktop on the same network without a hitch, even massive files with DTS-HD audio codecs. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this little guy. Some reviews here and on another site mentioned going through a few that failed either right off the bat or after a short time. Hopefully that won't be the case here, but I'll be sure to update this review if anything goes wrong.
