Coolest temp 32-34c GPU clock 139 MHz
Hottest temp 62c during performance testing the card automatically boosted clock speed at 2037 MHz and that was during a summer heat wave of 105F
What i like about this card is how flexible the GPU speeds are, when im surfing the web or watching movies the GPU down clocks to 139MHz, playing games it can jump all the way up to 2037Mhz but playing less demanding games like warframe actually pushes the GPU only around 800-1000MHz!
This card is light years better than the EVGA GTX 980 classified its replacing that card ran so hot it made my room feel like i was in an oven this summer. thank you Zotac for providing a 3 slot cooling solution!
on a side note i am using a vertical mounted Scythe 120mm fan that blows more air across the GPU and pushes out the heat pocket created between the GPU and CUP heat-sinks. if your GPU runs hot its most likely because of this heat pocket. Ever since they removed the north bridge the PCI #1 slot was pushed closer to the CPU slot creating this potential thermal hazard. i recommend having a fan to push out the hot air in that area
also in regards to the fans not turning on just download the new version of firestorm from zotac and preset the fan speeds based on temp, my fans spin around 60% and with the 4th fan its more than enough to keep the GPU running at 35c
I'm actually surprised that with that big size radiator (it's really big, covers up to 2.5 pcie slots) it can still run at temps 70C (average load). I have also dedicated 150mm fans pushing air into it from 2 sides and it barely helped with 2-5C.
The top of it (metal plate) runs really hot and is just passively cooled. It increased temps by 15C on my M2. SSD that I have attached right above that gpu plus overall temperature inside the case increased as well. It negatively affected liquid cooling on my CPU (+ 8 ~ 12C) as 2 fans have to push already preheated air through the radiator.
If somebody knows how to deal with temperatures
Even though variance from GPU boost is to be expected, make sure to give it comprehensive stress testing before acceptance. My first 1080 Ti had strange issues with (I deduced) power utilization/designation; the issue would randomly solve itself so it took a while to narrow down the cause. I recieved a new card, and the issue has been resolved. The new card is perhaps a slightly worse performer (stock) but can keep that performance under full utilization for hours. It's still a great card and a great for 1080 Ti specifically.
For Spectra LED Lighting to work, download Firestorm from Zotac's website and click apply after each section you assign.
I haven't had a high end graphics card in a long time. I am working on machine learning now (I don't game as much as I used to, but this card is still great for that!). Let me tell you...this thing can do everything and more! The card stays really cool under heavy load. I have been using it for about a month now and I am very impressed with the build quality, how cool it stays, and just how much of a workhorse this truly is.
I managed to snag this at MSRP by being very patient. There are websites out there that will alert you when new stock hits any store. If you have are having trouble finding this at MSRP....be patient... the next generation of cards is around the corner so by waiting you will either get this card at MSRP or a brand new card at MSRP. =)
I will note that currently (12/19/2017) Amazon itself does not sell the card and is only sold by third party. They seem to be charging a bit over $1,000 for the card. I do not recommend snagging it for that price. When I bought mine it was just a tad less than $700. If the $1,000 is the only price you can find then I would recommend the AMP Extreme edition for around $850 instead. Solid card with better cooling from the reviews and research I've done on it.
I will say though Zotac, not sure why they don't at least cover the tab that goes into the PCI-E slot. While I've yet to have any issues performance wise, I sometimes wonder of their quality control. Every manufacturer I bought 1080 Ti's from had at least the covers on the tab. I'm more worried about possible ESD issue but again it's not a deal breaker.
Overall I'm happy with the purchase. It seems to run cool for the most part and the fan speed can be adjusted including other settings to overclock with MSI Afterburner without an issue.

The only bad thing is the i bought it when the graphics card mining madness happened and i got this for 900..... but yeah a good card overall. Go for a 2080 now or a used 1080ti.
This is a 1080 Ti 11GB card for the price of a 1080 8GB non-Ti.
5-1 star = 4 star for running too hot if room ambient is greater than 22 degrees.
- The cooling system on this card is good only if your ambient temperature of room is around 22 degrees or less and given that the cabinet has very good air flow. Zotac should have increased the heatsink or fan strategy to handle temperatures for customers living in tropical or equatorial regions.
- If you have a closed case or your ambient temperature is 31 degrees in room like mine, then this card will instantly reach 90 degrees and keep thermal throttling which causes lower clock speeds and in turn degraded performance. Best solution will be to go for after market cooler like Nzxt g12 + compatible liquid cpu aio cooler or else arctic accelero extreme 4.
Overall super happy to purchase this card.
Prodotto consigliato, spedizione come sempre veloce e produttore affidabile.
