So I ended up having to write a product review instead of a reply to one of the Q&As because this is my personal account and the product was bought on a company account (which I don't have access too). Anyway so there is a question above asking if this product is M or B keyed and then several posters arguing back and forth and insulting each other about which it is. The funny thing is, they are both right. One of them said it was B keyed because his M keyed device wouldn't fit in the connector, the other said it's M+B keyed because his M+B keyed device fits. Here is the deal, there are 3 types of commonly used keys for NGFF (Next Generation Form Factor), B, M, and M+B. The fact that they call it M+B is kind of confusing. This does NOT mean it supports both M and B keys, it just means that a device with M+B keying will work. M+B keying is the one with two "slots" in it (one is the B slot and one is the M slot), B and M both have one slot however they are slightly different (B has six pins before the slot, M has 5). The notch on the connector for this product is for B keying, but since M+B keyed devices have both M and B type slots, the B part of them fits in the connector. HOWEVER an M keyed device with not mate with the B connector (it's slightly off) and therefore this product supports B keyed, B+M keyed, but NOT M keyed devices.

That's my story, good day.

tl;dr This device supports B keyed, B+M keyed, but NOT M keyed devices

I used this enclosure to upgrade the 128GB SSD that shipped with my Samsung ATIV Book 9 2014 Edition to the Transcend MTS800 512GB SSD. I used the enclosure to clone the 128GB SSD to the 512GB SSD before swapping the SSD drives. It worked perfectly and was also fast taking less than 15 minutes to perform the clone.

When I first connecting the ZTC enclosure to the computer with the Transcend SSD installed, the enclosure was automatically detected but the SSD did not automatically show up in File Explorer. This was not a problem for me, however, as the enclosure SSD was still automatically recognized by Samsung Recovery software (which shipped with my computer) that I used to clone the drive. I believe you can get the enclosure's SSD to appear in File Explorer as well by manually assigning a drive letter to it, but I have not done this myself.

Samsung's pre-installed Recovery software makes cloning a breeze -- just choose "Copy Drive" option and you're all set. I also verified that the factory image transfers correctly to the new drive (i.e. pressing F4 at reboot still works with my new SSD to restore a factory image).

So far so good. The quality of the included USB 3 cable is fine, so there is no need to order a second cable unless you want a spare, or you want a cable that is longer than about 6 inches. The enclosure will bottleneck your M.2's read and writes, but the performance is still great. After installing my 850 evo in to this enclosure I went from about 550/530MB/s seq. read and write down to 390/360. This drive still performs much faster than the fastest usb flash drives on the market. The write speed is incredibly consistent when transferring large files, but it does tend to dip by about 30% when transferring several small files (as with most drives).
As far looks go I have no complaints. I actually really like the design of the enclosure. The entire case, with the exception of the ends, is black brushed aluminum and it looks great. It is very light, and fits in my pocket easier. The entire case is no thicker or longer than the average smart phone so it shouldn't be an issue to carry around in your pocket or bag. So far I don't have any issues with the drive. If I encounter any problems I will be sure to update my review.

The good points:

1) It does exactly what I expected. I installed the Samsung PM851 M.2 drive that I pulled out of my 2015 Dell XPS 13, connected it to the Dell's USB 3.0 port, and was able to use it as an external drive without issue.

2) I formatted the partitions, and did some test file copies. With large numbers of smaller files, it's quite slow: 397 KB/s. That's brutal. Thankfully, with larger files (100+ MB video files and the like), it's quite fast, bouncing around at over 200 MB/s (I saw it hit 237 MB/s at peak). On a mixed batch of files, you'll likely see speeds in the 150 MB/s range. I'm not sure what kind of M.2 drive they used to get the 500+ MB/s read and 300+ MB/s write speeds shown on the product page.

2) It was easy to open up and install the M.2 drive into. Immediate recognition of the drive with Windows 10.

3) I copied 51,303 files over to it (144 GB of data) and there were no errors or glitches.

A few negatives:

1) During large copy jobs, it gets so hot you almost can't hold it. I worry a little about longevity of my M.2 drive in there. The metal case is a giant heat sink, so that helps.

2) I'd have preferred an "in use" indicator less ostentatious than a blinking ZTC logo, but thankfully they placed it on the bottom so you if placed on a flat surface you only see a slight blinking. A simple blue LED near the cable port would work just as well.

3) The cable is quite short - maybe six inches? I use my laptop up on a stand, so the cable isn't long enough and the drive rest with one end hanging in the air. For most people this cable length will work though.

All in all, it's what I wanted and it sells for a fair price. A good purchase.
