ZUS is a smart car finder and USB car charger. It charges up your mobile devices at twice the speed and finds your car with the companion iOS/Android app. Say good-bye to time-consuming searches in large parking lots, at the mall, or in crowded neighborhoods.

Describe your product in 3 words.
Smart. Sleek. Unique.
How did you come up with the idea for this product?
We wanted ZUS to be useful to the everyday commuter, traveler, parent, student, and professional. We rethought the way people used a conventional product like a car charger and made it smarter. We build ZUS to help people save time - time saved from searching for your car and from charging your devices, so that you can spend it on things that you really care about.
What makes your product special?
We invest a lot of thought in our product design and manufacturing to ensure that we make a top quality product. For instance, we use the best raw materials from the chipsets to the Bayer PC material to the titanium coating. No other car charger manufacturers have claimed that they can meet rigorous military high temperature standards like us.
What has been the best part of your startup experience?
The best startup experience so far has been seeing customers rave about a product that we've spent months designing, prototyping and testing. It makes it all worthwhile. We get really pumped up by being able to make a difference in someone's day through our products.

The ZUS charger can only remember the car's location where you parked last. Once your car is moving: borrowed by a friend/family member or stolen it will lose track of where your car is since the charger and your cell phone has to pair themselves (automatically) within a certain distance every time the engine turns on/off.
If you enter a location with no data/GPS signal and/or park in a multi-structured parking lot such as a mall, garage or airport you'll get a prompt from the app that it is unable to locate you and suggest you take a picture to remember where you parked.
When the GPS locator does work such as in a residential area or shopping plaza it works flawlessly as you able to find your location no problem with the compass always directing you to the right location.
Love how the USB ports on the charger is angled (instead of up front) and are back lit for ease of use. Charging is pretty quick, I was able to charge my Nexus 5 battery from 44-80% during a 30-40min commute. If you ever own a qualcomm fast wall charger you'll notice a similar speed.
The US Military Grade materials are a good feature to have, but I don't think my car will be bombed anytime soon or will I be trying to cause any physical damage to the device
I like how the charger doesn't get hot to the touch like other car chargers I've used in the past despite its fast charging speed.
Love the packaging, feels like you're opening an Apple or Premium product
Overall great feature rich device, just that the smart car locator could use some work.
I received this product at a discount in exchange for a honest review
The charge itself is not very good. In spite of it's claim, It's not a fast charger, as my Samsung S5 barely takes a charge when plugged in, and sometimes even slowly losing a charge when I'm using Waze for GPS directions, or streaming music via Bluetooth. It delivers such a low level of "juice" my dashcam thinks the car has been powered off during a drive!
With only those concerns, the device would garner a 3 star review, except the latest update to the android software now requires a sign-in, which means you have to register an email address to login to the software on startup! Why? To harvest emails to spam you, that's why. Right after I "confirmed" my email address, I received a request to post a positive review. Bogus!
I used a dead email address so I can continue to use it. But I don't even use the charge function anymore. I'm thinking it's almost a waste of money as I'm about to "pull the plug" on the Zus, figuratively and literally.
Images L to R: ZUS connected and working in car in an open car park, no concrete / competing free app FindMyCar has no trouble finding cat / ZUS fails to find car. Side-by-side test, same car, same locations. And yes, I did keep the ZUS app running in the background as you're supposed to. Nasty surprise if you ran off for a meeting and just assumed the ZUS would do its' thing.
The directions for using the app and the Zus confused me. At first I couldn't get the app to detect the Zus. Then, the app would not consistently detect that I had parked my car. Through trial and error, I discovered that the Zus had to be plugged into an outlet that lost power when the car was turned off. After discerning that, the app successfully saved the location of my parked car more than half but less than all of the time.
When I got to the parking lot for the cruise on April 24, 2016, the app informed me that it had saved the location. I went aboard the ship, and soon after the app displayed a message indicating that it had FAILED to save the location, and that I should take a picture of the car. At the same time, it said that the last saved location was recorded on April 24, 2016!
In short, the hardware seems to work reasonably well, but the app is useless!
I bought this device strictly for locating my car, because my car has usb ports built into it, so I had no need for additional charging capabilities. As a result of the inadequate performance of the app, I wasted my money. Until the app is improved, I do NOT recommend buying this device.
