I expected the knives would be more heavy and the handles would me metal covered with plastic. The handles are plastic. They are very sharp and durable, with a little sharpening maintenance, they are long lasting. I would recommend these as a gift or if you are looking for a good starter set of premium knives. They also carry a lifetime warranty. Highly recommended.

This is the classic 4-star design, but is slightly different in balance and weight to the 4-star set I bought 15 years ago. Today's set feels SLIGHTLY lighter and maybe marginally thinner steel BUT they are still very sharp and HIGH QUALITY German-made knives at a great price. I really like the 5.5" Prep Knife, which is the general everyday knife. I do prefer this 4-Star classic set to the newer 4-star II series but it's definitely a personal preference in balance and feel. I do miss my original 4 star series though, but this is still a decent replacement.
