Easy to handle, with a smooth, clean-cutting action

The Zyliss Lock N' Lift can opener is made mostly of plastic (BPA-free), so it is light and easy to handle. However, it feels solid and well-made. The turning and cutting action rotates smoothly, and leaves no jagged edges. The magnet is strong enough to pick up large lids, and pressing the lever on the bottom allows you to drop it where you want. I like the fact that the opener handles lock in place; this makes it ergonomic and places less stress on the wrist and hand. However, I found that with some cans, I needed to squeeze the handles to effectively finish the last half-inch of cutting. The rubberized handles make it easier to hold, even with wet hands. The tool opens to 180 degrees so it is relatively easy to clean. It is dishwasher-safe, and has a 5-year warranty (keep track of your proof of purchase!). Although Zyliss is owned by a Swiss holding company (DKSH), it appears its products are made in China (I'm not 100% sure about this).

I love this can opener. Works well, I have had it for years. This is my second one. The first one got broken by someone who doesn’t know how to operate it. They pulled it when it was locked, until it broke. Advice don’t let some one use it that doesn’t know there is a button on top that has to be pushed to release it open. I was able to fix it and now operating great. My wife takes it to church to open cans and I needed a second one to use.
