And fascinating in a good way, not in a "I gotta watch this train wreck" way. I'm seldom moved to write a review or rate a movie figuring most stand or fall on their own merits or faults and are a matter of personal taste. But this flick, made for very little money, the grainy cinematography is always the tip off yet it works here as it's a grainy "slice of life kind os story". The actors could easily have wandered off into high camp but they give honest performances that threaten to but never go over the top. The only hitch is believability, it isn't but then isn't it a movie's primary task to get the viewer to suspend disbelief? Zzzyx does that, I actually found myself rewinding it when something didn't work so I could see if I had missed something, and I had. So, even if it wasn't truly believable, the director and writer made certain it was all lined up as if it was. Lastly, Zzzyx doesn't take itself too seriously, that would mean over the top bloody FX which would've dragged us into self parody but it does play it straight. I often see twists long before they pop up and I did here too but I never was able to see what they were going to be, just that the characters would be revealing themselves differently down the road. All in all, an enjoyable little trip into the genre well worth an hour and a half of your time.
This movie is so low budget I would doubt it had more than a few pages of script. I started noticing random movies pop up as 5 star rating with only 1 or 2 ratings. This movie doesn't even appear on IMDB. That's how nonexistent it is. I don't know who is at fault here, but I'm sure being duped like this is going to turn people away from Amazon Prime.
Terrible, really really bad movie. Nothing redeemable at all. Horrible story, horrible acting, awful production, abysmal camera work, sometimes when movies are this awful they try to pretend it was supposed to be a spoof. No chance of that here. Just a really awful movie, avoid at all costs.
