The only "negative" about this (which I admit I didn't even think about when I bought it) is that it's hard, not floppy like most bug swatters, so you won't be hitting bugs on the walls and ceiling. You'll need to "goose" them into flight.
It's... also a little more fun than it should be :-)
UPDATE: I've had a chance to pull it out again this spring, and it was SO COOL I went to Amazon to review it... and I already had! There is nothing like catching a horsefly in it, and still hitting the "fry" button to see the little booger spark and cook. I'll have to try to make a video next time.
My roommate and I just moved into a new house a couple months ago and it came with.... Gnaty guests. After about a month, we found that we were fighting a losing battle. There are hundreds of gnats! We couldn't figure out why they were there and where they were coming from! I started working from home and one day I took a sip of my coffee and there was a gnat in there. MY COFFEE!
We tried everything and I didn't want to bomb the house so I found this bad boy. The first one did come in mangled and not working but let me tell you! Amazon's amazing customer service fixed it all up and one day shipped another. Once I received this mythical device, I was off to the war zone once again.
I LOVE that it isn't constantly running. You need to hold down a button so there is electricity running through the racket. When it comes in contact with a bug, it makes the most satisfying POP! It took me about 2 hours to win but, I didn't even notice because I was enjoying myself too much. Now there are only 2 left. I let them live just so they can tell the other bugs to stay away. They can be like, "I was there for the great gnat genocide. Its not safe here."
Anywho! I highly recommend this as it is rechargeable and don't touch the wire because that would be dumb. :)
Which brings me to the Zap-It Bug Zappers. They are amazing! One charge lasts a full evening of moth hunting and beyond. My wife and I and our 12-year-old son compete to see how many we can zap in an evening. After a week of this, their numbers have dwindled as the males are caught in the pheromone traps and the Zap-its get the females and the male stragglers. I will admit, we're almost sad that the moth population is quickly dwindling and we're down to just 2 or 3 per night of new hatchlings, no doubt. Before long, I'm confident they'll all be gone. Thank you Zap-It!
