Pen works well enough if your writing on a "normal" single sheet of paper on a hard surface, but forget about using it on legal pads or multi-part forms.
But, while the Z-Grip has a lot of good features (listed below), it is simply not very comfortable to use. It requires quite a bit of pressure to produce a consistently solid line and it feels scratchy against the paper. After the comparison to many of the well known pens, I decided to compare the Z-Grip with the free ballpoint pens that have gathered in my kitchen drawer. We all have these lying around. ...The type of pen handed out at (or stolen from) the Orthodontist, Animal Hospital, Pancake House, Motel, or local Mortuary. I found that the free pens were every bit as good as the Z-Grip (only lacking the rubber grip). They wrote more smoothly, required the same (or less) pressure to write with, and also greatly resisted smearing on regular or fine paper.
Three Stars means "It's Okay" and the Z-Grip is. For such a low price the pens are fine, but I believe there are many better options available. Take a look at my comparison pictures to see which look you hope for when you write. Try some other options before buying a set of the Z-Grips. You may be surprised at which pen becomes your favorite. Sadly, it probably wont be the Z-Grip.Read more ›
The worst, however, is that they only write a sentence or two then stop. In the past, I've had ball point pens that leak. This is the opposite. The ink won't come out. It takes about 3 to 5 characters before the ink starts to write normal. The first few letters are about 1/2 dark. Then, about every 50 - 100 characters or so, the ink stops. So, you look all over for some scratch paper to feverishly try to get the ink to write again so you can finish your sentence or note or whatever you were writing. If you let it sit and come back the next day, it will work again, but only for a sentence or two. This happens when writing on Post-It notes, "legal" pads, checks, you-name-it. It happens over and over and over.
Usually, in frustration, I throw the offending pen away. I now only have a couple pens left. And for all of it, I have only gotten a couple pages worth written. These are garbage. Don't buy them. PaperMate makes some colored pens which aren't too bad, but do tend to leak a bit.

The ink flows smoothly and each pen lasts a really long time. One of the nurses asked me if she could keep it because of how it writes. Best pens for the price.Published 8 days ago by Douglas Bauer
I like the colors, and they function as expected. I think they break fairly easily, though, if you're tough on things like I am. Read morePublished 15 days ago by DogsInSeattle
The pens work well. The ink flows well, no problem with having to scribble scribble scribble to get the ink actually work through the pens. Read morePublished 18 days ago by Rembat
These pens are great...but they run out of ink/stop writing SO fast. The pens themselves are great, with one HUGE caveat being that they run out of ink or more accurately stop... Read morePublished 21 days ago by ARod12
Comparable to more expensive pens! I'm usually very selective about my pens and I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised with the Zebra Z-Grip! Read morePublished 24 days ago by jenny
The pens are decent and seem to last a while, negative a star for poor packaging since if it is dropped on the plunger side every pen in the box opens and dries out.Published 24 days ago by Ashley
