I am a swordsman and a Zelda fan, so I have real high carbon steel swords. First, I will say that there are at least 10-15 different master sword replicas out there, sold by different companies. So, you either get lucky or you do not. I purchased this one, and I got the better quality sword.

The blade is factory dull 440 stainless steel. Stainless steel is too brittle to be battle ready, just so you know. It is pretty strong, and after having it for four years, it has put up with being swung around. You can even hit plants and small branches with it. The tip is brought to a sharp point. Eventually, however, it has began to rattle a bit.

The triforce emblem is laser engraved, and is pretty decent.

The cross gaurd is cold cast poly resin. It is a durable material, but chips over time.

The handle is either poly resin or wood. I cannot tell. It has nice grip rings carved into it and feels comfortable in the hand.

The pommel is like a hollow poly resin. No weight to it, so the sword is off balance- but not bad if you have the strength in your arm to compensate.

It is not full tang. It is mostly a small tang bolted into the hilt, as I can see when I look at one side of the sword. However, it is very strong for a bolted tang.

The paint IS a dark blue in house light, but outside in the sun it shines an absolutely beautiful blue.

The gold paint is done well but has rubbed off over my four years of owning the sword.

The scabbard is very durable- and of surprising quality. It is hardwood, strong enough to take my dad pushing on it to get the belt strap on (not included.) The paint job on it is nice- all of the stencils along the scabbard are a flat gold.

I specifically purchased this item with the intent of mounting it on my wall with a plaque. I'm a moderate fan of the Zelda games; my first experience being on the ol' SNES, going through Zelda: Ocarina of Time, several of the Gameboy, GBC, and GBA games, and finally beating Twilight Princess recently.

The sword looks very much as it appears in the pictures, dark blue pommel and grip. The weapon is quite long. I reccomend pulling out a measuring tape and visually comparing the length given in the description before buying. It looks like the master-sword, and so it should. The scabbard is very nice, though there are no loops or holes to attach to your own belt.

My only complaints with the weapon are minor. The Hilt, grip, and pommel seem to be molded from PVC or some other similar plastic. It feels a little cheap in the hand. The weapon is not "full-tang" (I.e. the blade ends at the hilt, rather then continuing all the way up the handle). This means that in any kind of mock battle or play, the blade could easily be disconnected from the handle. Even a hard swing of the sword in the air could potentially damage it. The blade itself is made from a cheaper metal, and could use a good polishing once it arrives. I would use it soley for display, or to compliment a costume.

After reading all of the mixed reviews on here, I was worried I would receive one of the faulty/"bad" swords. Yet, I still took the chance and ordered my sword from Top Swords and I recieved it in two days. It came a whole week earlier than promised! I was ecstatic when it was delivered but also worried that I had recieved the bad one. Upon opening the package I was proven immensely wrong! This sword is great quality, looks amazing and was much better than I had expected! The paint job is definitely hand painted but it still looks great, and the blue is darker than the stock photo but I actually think it looks better that way. Some people said the paint looked almost black, but that is definitely not the case. It's a dark blue, which I think looks quite nice. I definitely recommend this sword, but only if ordering from Top Swords! I love it!

Maybe I was among the few who got the "crappy" version of this, but let me tell you, it's not nearly worth the price I paid. The scabbard is made of plastic, with really shoddy, stenciled painting which was thicker in some places and even had dried globs of paint where it was thickest. I could've done a much better job myself. Not to mention that as soon as I unboxed it, the gold piece closest to the hilt came right off. It was "glued" (and i use the term lightly) with some kind of jelly like lubricant, which did not hold in place even for a second. The handle was chipped in various places, with paint coming off and scratched up edges. The blade was an intense letdown, just a flat, cheap hunk of metal, with a laser engraving designed by a toddler. The point isn't even sharp, and the edges of the blade are as dull and thick as a fat ruler. I wouldn't get this even for the most hardcore Zelda fans. It's just a cheap, ugly mess. Oh, did I mention it says "CHINA" right under the laser etching? Save yourself the disappointment. Don't buy this.

The only reason I purchased this sword over the $36.95 sword was because the other sword of pictured as having the word CHINA engraved on the blade near the TriForce symbol. I was very disappointed when this one arrived to see that it is the exact same! How cheesy is that? Returning this and buying the same thing for $36.
