I have not read a single self-help book in my life and have been grateful that it has never been a calling of mine. Sure, a few business class reads about the habits of this and who moved my cheese and so on, but THIS is THE tome for the person who needs a whole life makeover.

Nothing can compare to becoming a zombie as a way to helping yourself. Zombies are Zen, they are pure and do not deviate. We can all learn a great deal by studying everything there is to know about zombies and trying to emulate them. Well, except for the eating of brains part.

But the idea here is to have the focus, the raw determination, the lack of concern for minor or even major details. All of it must be disposed of in the face of complete zombification.

This book discussed the 24 habits of highly effective zombies (which are the only kind there is), which include such genuine gems as this: be adaptable, be your own boss, remember its just stuff, and digging a grave? You've got it made!

The book also gives you a twelve step plan to complete zombification in 90 days. How you conquer your fears (and make those who you have feared in the past now fear you), playing it cool, letting go of your ego, and being in the zombie zone are all just a portion of the wisdom imparted between these pages.

This is a rollicking good book that lacks all inhibitions. The author is wise to the ways of zombies and plays it to the hilt here. He takes great pleasure in driving his point home with heaping handfuls of gruesome advice that had me laughing and nodding in agreement the whole way along.

If you are looking for a good laugh and an excellent self help guide at the same time, look no further, The Zen of Zombie is your answer.

While reading this book, a co-worker - who is addicted to any self-help book with "Zen" in the title - came up and started prattling in my ear. "Oh, a Zen book?"

"With zombies."

"W-w-well, is it serious?"

"Oh, no. It's a joke. Totally."

She picked up the book and started flipping through it.

"No, there's a lot in here that's pretty serious. I think it's humorous, but serious."

So I moaned "bbbrrrrrrraaaaaaains", lurched forward (slowly, of course) and bit her on the scalp. She laughed and left (my biting style needs work), thus not irritating me any more! Acting like a zombie really did help me achieve what I wanted! Thanks, The Zen of Zombie!

This is the hottest new zombie book on the market and the best thing that's happened in zombie literature since Max Brook's Zombie Survival Handbook. This is just as funny and the artwork is incredible.

I love zombies and humor and self-help, so I thought this would be perfect. Unfortunately, it barely made me chuckle and was about as deep as a bottle cap. It had a few okay moments, but got really repetitive and boring.

Really, really funny. It's a send-up of self-help books that is 1. funny and 2. weirdly accomplishes its not-goal. By making you think of memorable and weird zombie, you actually spend brain energy thinking about what an ACTUAL self-help book might have you think about. E.g. thinking of eating brains, you wind up thinking about protein intake in your diet. Etc.

Recommended. Now I'm off to eat some brains to boost my protein intake.

Kenemore's take on a self-help book was actually not as bad as one might think. I've read other books by Kenemore and honestly didn't really like them, but this was something different. It's a sort of life style guide mixed with a bit of zombie bestiary. I'm not personally fond of his version of zombie lore (mostly that they only eat brains) but it is nice to see a zombie book be more than a horror novel and actually have some fun injected into it. It has some decent life tips and workbook style guides, but it wasn't quite enough to hold my attention the whole way through.

I listened to the audio version and I can't say it was extremely good or extremely bad. It just was. It was the easiest (and quickest) way to digest the book and that's about that.

Fun lifestyle guide. A zombie fan might enjoy this, but then again my have some conflict with the zombie lore presented.

This was a great bathroom book. Found in a friend's can, I probably could've amused myself with a few chapters. Read cover-to-cover it got a bit tedious, especially the fixation on brains as the be-all/end-all of zombie behavior.

I'm not going to lie: there were a couple of laugh-out-loud moments. But a lot of the humor fell flat, too.

Overall, I'd say, stick it in your powder room along with the guest soaps and the back issues of Cosmo, and your visitors might get a laugh or two. Not terrible but not an overwhelming act of genius, either.

This book is in the humor section of bookstores, yet I fail to understand why. This book is written as a parody of self-help modules by focusing on the habits and traits of zombies. However, the joke gets real old, real fast. The first half of the book describes the successful habits of zombies and how you can improve your life by emulating them. Basically, it's the author repeating the same tired point over and over again. Yes we understand that zombies are single minded in their all-consuming quest for brains. There you have it. Somehow the author manages to stretch that same point and beats it to living death (no pun intended). What is truly tragic is that unintentional pun was about as funny as anything you'll read in the book.
The second half of the book was about how to undergo zombification yourself, and was just as boring as the first half. I understand that zombies are the new flavor of the month, and this author has managed to jump on the bandwagon and screw a few people out of their hard earned cash, myself, unfortunately included.
If you are looking for an entertaining zombie read, then look to Max Brooks, his two zombie books were MUCH better.
