I purchased this phone at the end of August 2018, Its currently the end of December 2018 and unfortunately there is a connector inside the phone that has either shorted or isn't connecting properly and now the screen does not work.

This issue happened a few times within a month of getting the phone, but a restart 'fixed' it. in the past 2 weeks its happened more frequently, and finally has gotten to the point where the phone isn't usable. I took it into a local shop for repair, where they opened it up, and disconnected and reconnected the wire, which temporarily fixed the issue, but 24 hours later the phone same issue is happening. The attached picture is what happens when I restart the phone. The screen is split with static and the actual restart screen, then quickly goes to black. The screen still senses button touches, but unfortunately the display down.

When the phone was working, I'd compare it to bigger brands quality at a better price, but unfortunately it looks like I'm wrong and should have spent the few hundred dollars extra on a brand that emphasizes quality.

With this poor quality build, I'm forced to give a poor rating to a phone I've come to love. If ASUS chooses to fix or replace the phone, I'd happily change my opinion to what should be a 5 star rating.
(AR is fantastic and the reason I chose this model!)

I tend to keep phones for 2-3 years and treat them gently. I've never had issues with water damage or broken screens.
