The paper is thick enough that gel pens should not bleed through. The prints are all single-sided, but there are quotes printed on the back of every page.
The designs are open enough to be able to take thicker markers, but intricate enough to keep a person interested in the page. This is considered an adult coloring book, but the images are not too challenging for older children.
The sayings are inspirational, but there are no religious or biblical quotes, so this book is appropriate for all belief systems.
The pages are perforated and suitable for framing.

Five stars for the cover, which is of a wonderful high gloss and thick cardstock. This is something many of us colorists prize. Also five stars for the beauty of the artwork on both the front and back cover. This is key in marketing your book!
There are four introductory pages, three of which can be colored. (5 stars!)
Every single coloring page is printed on a single side of the coloring book. This is key when you wish to use mediums other than crayons, as the pressure of colored pencils will go into the next drawing. If you are using markers of any kind, you will wish to have a sheet of paper and cardboard to help protect the page below it if you are unable to remove the page for whatever reason.
Every design leaves enough room on the edge for lefthanded colorists, AND there is the wonderful addition of the pages being perforated and easily removed!
On the back of every page is an uplifting quote, and each page varies in difficulty from beginner to advanced coloring. Some of the art is fine enough that fineliner pens or brush markers are your best choice to use.
I absolutely love the pages, though some of them I have to be in the mood for, as they are a little saccharine for my taste. I do understand though that this was something the author had also mentioned when discussing with the publisher.
This is a great coloring book for teens and adults, and would be wonderful to take along on a trip, to rehab or an inpatient clinic. The pages are such that any medium could be used and it would take up very nicely on the page. I would highly recommend it for occupational therapy or mental health therapies given that it is a zentangle coloring book and requires varying degrees of mindfulness to complete the pages.
I look forward to seeing whatever this artist (HI JUSTINE!) has to bring to the table in the future, as I know she is very talented.
