The only thing I didn't like was being manipulated. I hate cliff hangers and serial stories. My time is more important to me than to be sitting around waiting for the next installment. That's too old fashioned, okay only if you're 10 years old, and a blatant attempt to make readers buy another book. This author left the Ghost group totally up in the air (which I'm guessing to be a setup for another series) and didn't even flesh out Zenko's and Shaun's relationship at the end. And, the implication that Zenko had died was totally ridiculous (even though you know he really didn't). Then after another short section titled 6 Months Later, the book just stopped like the author got up for a cup of coffee and never came back. I felt like a door was slammed in my face. (It's amazing to me how many authors do this. It's like they get tired of their own stories.) Now the author has gone back in time for the second book in this series for Noble's story so we STILL don't know what's happening with Zenko and Shaun. Noble should have been written first. This author is mostly very talented in my opinion, and has a lot of potential if she would drop the manipulation of her readers. Unfortunately she's probably lost me as a reader.
Unfortunately, the compelling (but awfully executed) plot is all this book has. Clearly there are several overlapping stories, but reading this feels like you’re only reading one out of every four chapters in a book.
Also, the author’s style (in this book at least) is like an omnipotent narrator. Paragraph by paragraph, the perspective changes among several characters.
Honestly I rated it 3 because I did finish it, pretty quickly, and I could see myself reading book 2 if I got somewhat desperate for a book. But I think I’d be disappointed.
This author clearly has talent that im sure will continue to mature.

As the story gathers momentum it suddenly stops, leading to the next book. I rated this review a 4 as it didn’t quite hit the mark in terms of action, and the storyline jumped somewhat. As I said this is my favourite genre so I have a lot to compare it to, hopefully the storyline develops further into the series.
