Man! This is easily the *best* and most easy way to fashion a workable C=0 plan in accordance with Mil-Std-1916 that will fit just about any size machine shop. I have been in machining and quality control for 28 years, full IAM&AW Journeyman Inspector, aerospace job shops of all sizes. They have ALL struggled with sampling because of large sample sizes on big quantities, but just read this book and I GUARANTEE it will open your eyes to the feasability of SPC and C=0 for your production line and straight C=0 for received product. It also deals with sampling for extremely short runs (5 parts or less) and an adjusted sampling table for sampling small lot quantities of received product.
In fact, I just started a new job and these guys are absolutely behind the 8 ball. A HUGE inspection backlog. They are currently (without process controls) inspecting the sample quantities 100% dimensionally (because of customer complaints), and catching serious errors too late. Their customers are screaming for parts. Everyone is at the max stress level. No one knows what to do. I told them about this book, and they want me to bring it tomorrow.
So guess what?
Tomorrow it's time to open their eyes to a new kind of way (quoting Journey there) and show them some easy ways to put together a sampling plan that will win their Customer's approval and ease everybody's pain.
