The original Zero Tolerance 0454 was an award-winning collaboration between ZT and custom knife designer Dmitry Sinkevich. But it was also a very Limited Edition knife. To make this amazing knife more readily available, ZT has created a new-for-2015 version based on the original's streamlined form and high-performance function. The 0452CF is the same size as the original 0454, but with a carbon fiber front scale and S35VN dual-finished blade. S35VN sharpens to a razor edge, holds it, and can be re-sharpened easily. The 0452CF opens as smooth as butter with the KVT ball-bearing opening system and built-in flipper. A titanium frame lock with hardened steel lockbar insert ensures solid lock up. As a final touch of class, the 0452CF features handsome 5-spoke pivot hardware. From office to outdoors, the 0452CF is ready to go wherever you're ready to take it.

Followup note: After a few flips I realized it is not too tight, I have my finger on the lock release and it is putting pressure on the blade. Once I move my fingers off the lock and onto the back scale it opens really fast. I am sure others are making this same mistake and then saying it is too hard to open. this opens perfectly smooth and easy if done properly.
I do have a problem with the lock bar locking out too far making it hard to unlock. in one situation it locked out so far I had to use a screw driver to release the lock. If it continues to do this I may have to send it back to ZT for repair.
The size of the blade was bigger than I was expecting since I mainly use a Spyderco Para 3 but I've grown to like the 4 inch blade length. This knife came pretty sharp from the factory and had no issues testing this on scraps of paper and boxes lying around.
Mechanically, this knife flips open smoothly without issues and due to the weight of the blade and the KVT bearing system, can easily fall shut with a little flick after releasing the lock. The detent ball is pretty stiff and I've seen other reviews that had the same experience with it, but that combined with the weight of the knife does help to open the knife. I've added a little oil to the ball and after a few days of opening and closing the knife, it's gotten a better.
Overall, if you're looking for a bigger knife that doesn't take up much room in the pocket, the ZT 0452CF isn't a bad choice. Depending on how it feels and looks to you, the clip is pretty meh but can be easily replaced and It's fairly stiff detent ball does take some time to wear in but it will smooth out with use.
I’ve spent more time with the knife and need to say for the largish size it is skinny and light. An easy carry for EDC. I am simply loving this ZT.
