Premium-built and designed by Zero Tolerance in collaboration with custom knifemaker, Rick Hinderer, the 0566CF folding pocket knife is skillfully crafted in the USA, has an open construction design, is equipped with steel tube spacers and is an excellent everyday carry. Constructed with a high-performing, ultra-premium CPM-S35VN steel blade with a rugged, scuffed stonewashed finish, the blade offers exceptional edge retention, enhanced cutting capability and outstanding corrosion and wear resistance. The lightweight, textured handle features a comfortable, ergonomic grip with its stonewashed titanium back scale and black carbon fiber front scale with sweeping lines. SpeedSafe assisted opening enables smooth, one-handed blade deployment, while a secure frame lock prevents blade closure. As a signature feature to a classic Hinderer design, the titanium lockbar stabilization acts as a travel stop to avoid the accidental over travel of the lock bar when closing this ideal EDC, the 0566CF.

It's not super lightweight, but doesn't feel any heavier than any of my similarly sized benchmades. I only bring that up because some people seemed to think it felt heavy - I don't really notice the weight either way.
I like the flipper, and I like the assisted opening. It doesn't have a safety (a good thing IMHO), so I'd want it fairly stiff to prevent accidents. I knew a guy who wound up needing surgery after he reached into a pocket containing an opened knife. He didn't seem to enjoy the experience.
This is my first carbon fiber knife and I was pleasantly surprised by how "grippy" it feels without being at all rough. Similar to smooth micarta or g10, but with a cool look.
It might wind up being something I look for in the future.
There's really nothing I don't like about this thing.
I’ve carried this knife for almost two years. I’ve taken it on training exercises, field events, overseas, hunting, sailing, I even took it diving once. Except for the coating on the pocket clip, it looks new. I was cautious when I bought it because I thought I might not want to use a $150 knife to do every day dirty work, but it has handled all the abuse I’ve thrown its way easily. It’s worth it.
After I posted my review, I read some of the others. As far as the steel issue of Elmax vs S35VN, I couldn’t care less about the name. If you can honestly tell me you used the knife and weren’t impressed with the steel, that’s fine, but I doubt that’s what happened.
As far as the hard opening... I don’t know what to tell you guys. I’m guessing people are not pulling straight down on the flipper. Maybe they’re trying to actually push it straight in. I can’t really imagine it being an issue.
Just my two cents. No one cares, but I had to defend my knife.
Unlike its big brother ZT0550 or 0560, this one is not too big, not too heavy, and none too thick.
Older release had Elmax steel; thank goodness this newer version is in S35VN steel.
It is still bit porky at 5.25 oz but the overall size and weight is still quite manageable for a hard use EDC knife.
Lockup is solid with no blade play; it has phosphor bronze washers instead of ball bearing ones,
giving it deliberate but smooth opening and closing actions.
Carbon fiber is smooth but not too slick and is through and through CF, not a laminate over G10.
My only complaint is the Kershaw assist opening mechanism.
I would have preferred this knife to be a manual flipper.
As others have commented this particular knife can be somewhat stiff to operate straight out of the box. I did not encounter the same issue with the 0562CF. I'm hoping the torsion bar will loosen up as it is somewhat hard to get open and a little stiff to close. However, it flicks open lightning-fast once the assisted opening feature kicks in. Had it not been for this stiffness, this knife would have received a 5 star rating.
