We all suffer some form of victim mentality. This book helps identify it and gives some direction for how to overcome it on a personal level. It is interesting that the came out before last summer's season of destruction and this election's time of upheaval. Every American with a sense of civic duty and desire to be a responsible citizen will appreciate reading this. I'm thankful to see the areas in my life held back by victim mentality. The book has also helped me see how others around me have been captivated by it as well. I look forward to hopefully a second volume teaching us how to help one another break out of this disturbing and harmful mindset.

I have lived moving from victim to victorious and this book follows much of what my path did but from the perspective of ethnicity rather than social position and gender. He softens the hard edges of many of the ‘moral’ hardliners with measures of compassion but maybe has overlooked some medical/mental health realities. It offers sound advice and has pretty reasonable theology.

James Ward Jr. is a preacher who doesn't preach. He observes life and explains it simply. I am buying multiple copies of this book for my family. We all land somewhere on the scale above zero so this will help everyone who reads it.

The world keeps throwing multiple problems at us that make us ask why. James's approach gives us the answer to the "whys" from within. This is a great book for Christians and the not yet converted.

I just received this book and have yet to read it. But judging from the sermons and having read the introduction, I anticipate this to be a great read. I don't perceive pastor Ward to solely target the African-American culture. This read is for anyone that considers themselves a "victim" due to outside circumstances or who may have experienced a life of disadvantage from an early stage, to first look within themselves for answers, which may contribute to their victimized view. I believe this book can help guide and improve one's approach on improving their outlook and lifestyle. Even if you have overcome circumstances or are confident in life's approach, this perhaps can be a tool to assist others as well as improve one's self, which is my intent for use.

It is a book which serves to explain, rather than blame! It shows the path forward, rather than path to retaliation or renumeration. It describes the path to freedom. This book is good but not the best with all due respect it is just giving out guidelines like a robot would there isn't much emphasis on each guidance. The Author is just forwarding his thoughts and his thoughts only which makes me highlight “easier said than done"... there is dismissal of how a individual has to cope with injustice. I would read other books unless your a robot who has very little emotion than this is probably ideal.
