Galaxy Note 8 Battery Charger Case, ZeroLemon SlimPower
5500mAh Extended Charging Case Portable Battery Case for Samsung Galaxy Note 8 - Black
ZeroLemon’s 5500mAh Lithium-ion battery adds a big dose of battery life to the Note 8, extending its battery life by a claimed 120%, which adds up to more than 48 hours of talk time, 16 hours plus of move watching on the phone, and 74 hours and more of music listening time.
The Galaxy Note 8 may offer rapid charging, but the ZeroLemon battery pack looks to be the accessory you’ll want if you have a Note 8 and plan to be away from a power socket for some time. The case also comes with four coloured LEDs to indicate how much charge it has left in it.
This extra battery life comes at the cost of making the Note 8 a bit bulkier and taller but ZeroLemon’s case has also been designed to allow files to be transferred between the phone and a computer without needing to remove the case, and the company notes it adds protection and scratch resistance to the Note 8.
The company just unveiled its 5500 mAh offering for the Samsung Galaxy Note8, along with the promise of around 48 hours of talk time, 16 hours of video watching or 74 hours of music streaming time extra on the phone. Of course, those numbers are purely subjective and your mileage may vary. However, what you can definitely count on is at least one full recharge of your Note8's sealed in battery from the extra pack in the case. Perhaps even a bit more. Makes sense, since you do have to account for conversion losses during charging. Gone are the days of removable batteries and simpler extended battery solutions. But, we digress.
One interesting thing to note about the new ZeroLemon SlimPower case is that it appears to be a bit re-designed, compared to the company's Galaxy S8 and S8+ offers. The top and bottom bezels are noticeably slimmed down, which is great, since the last thing Samsung's new extra-tall 18.5:9 devices need is a vertical extension. Also, the fingerprint cutout is a bit bigger, to accommodate the few out there who are persistent enough to try and use the awkwardly positioned reader.

I'm a tech junkie, and thought that the lack of NFC was a deal breaker, but, this battery feels endless. I'm definitely a power user, and carry an extra Hyperion battery with me sometimes. Bluetooth music streaming, while net surfing and reading ebooks- that's what I put my Note II through all the time. I play music through the AUX port in my car system whenever I'm driving around. Then my phone is an MP3 player, gps and all around entertainment system when I'm shopping. I read ebooks when I'm in line, I'll watch a movie that I downloaded to my SD Card when I'm at the DMV or waiting for my car to be fixed at the shop. I almost always have this Note II in my hand.
I live in Philly and sometimes take day trips to NYC. I was looking for a battery solution that will last no matter how long I am away from a charger. It's not fun to be stuck in another city with a dead cell phone. It's always better to have and not need, than need and not have. That's my philosophy. This looks like it will do the job.
This will not be my everyday battery, I have three smaller ones (2 Hyperion + 1 stock), but, this will be a back up for long long days. Shipping was fast, although you should expect to spend the first day just charging the battery.
If you want endless power, this looks like the ticket. It's relatively cheap, but pretty heavy. I'll give an update once I power use it for an entire weekend.
I don't want to be- but I'm in. I like it, and don't really need NFC for $50 more. Good job on this.
So this is becoming my every day case. you can do NFC tricks with Wifi and bluetooth settings in NFC Task Launcher. Having power that doesn't budge pretty much all day is getting addicting. I did notice some lag issues and funky things after changing to this new setup. The issues aren't terrible- I'm actually nervous about switching back to regular batteries, this thing has quickly skewed my perception of how long my Note II can last.
It's not for everyone- smaller people may have a problem with the size, but, when you're holding it, the phone is thicker by feels really manageable somehow. Weird.
Very pleasantly surprised.
-- Another update---
I tried to kill this battery, and will upload a screen shot. I'll probably get about 40 hours of power on one full charge. This includes heavy bluetooth streaming, netflix watching and other power hungry activities. Like everyone else says, this is the only battery you'll ever need. Insane.
I'm looking forward to case with a kickstand and otterbox type protection. This battery is 5+ star product. That's why it's selling out as soon as ZeroLemon stocks Amazon's warehouses with the product. I'll use the stock battery for-- I have no idea, maybe when I'm doing the Couch 2 5K app run in the mornings since this won't fit in my armband as is. I don't see any other reason to swap out this battery- it makes me want to use my phone even more often now. I'll plug headphones in while using my laptop just because I can or watch a show on hulu plus in bed instead of on the couch. Just like the Note II is not for everyone (ie., I-people who are nervous about too much confusing technology), this battery is not for everyone. But as you can see by the reviews, the people who want perpetual juice are in love with this product. I'm one of them.
---11.12.13 Update--- An ultra-rugged case has come out for the Note II Zerolemon battery combo. I purchased it a couple days ago and will report back on how it performs. I think this battery is the single best accessory purchase I've made for the Note II. Nothing comes close for me. Months later and I usually end up around 60% battery after two day's use. It's unreal.
I will post again if it ages poorly, but so far it's well worth the price.
I managed to separate one of the metal pieces from the other two that were held together by metal strips as described above. Accidentally, I placed the the third piece of metal over the other two metals (but now without the sticky paper that separated the two pieces from the third piece). Immediately, there WAS A SMALL EXPLOSION FOLLOWED BY SMOKE!! The metals got RED HOT AND I SUFFERED A MINOR HEAT SENSATION (LIKE A BURN) TO MY FINGER TIPS. I used a plastic to immediately separate the metals and decided to dismantle the first two pieces of metals that were held my the strip of metallic object. This caused MORE SPARKS AND SMOKE WITH HEAT.
I immediately called Amazon customer service and was advised to DISCARD THE ENTIRE PACKAGE AND NOT TO RETURN THEM TO AMAZON (I have an e-mail from this customer service agent from Amazon). I requested this agent to contact ZeroLemon but curiously, SHE COULD NOT FIND ANY PHONE NUMBER TO CONTACT ZEROLEMON OFFICIALS!!!
Since I was about to board an International flight, I was extremely hesitant and frightful of carrying or even having these ZeroLemon/Amazon delivered goods on my person for obvious reasons; I was terrified that given what happened in Boston, it would be impossible for me to explain what I was carrying. I was also afraid of inserting any of these metallic pieces in my Note II for fear of an explosion and resulting destruction of my phone and personal injury. I therefore took a video of the fire and smoke from the metal pieces sent to me and then discarded the entire package.
What is baffling here is that, the U-tube videos of Zerolemon products show an entirely different picture of the batteries. What were sent to me were very clearly, explosive devices!!!!!! The question is how did Amazon allow such goods to be shipped to a customer?? I am NOT FAMILIAR WITH ZEROLEMON AS A COMPANY OR THEIR PRODUCTS, UNTIL I GOT THESE SUPPOSED BATTERY DEVICES, so I am unsure what this company actually manufactures, but suffice to say some authority needs to investigate them. At the very least, it is AMAZON'S responsibility TO THOROUGHLY CHECK GOODS THAT ARE BEING SHIPPED FROM ITS WAREHOUSE TO CUSTOMERS. I have decided for the time being, to NOT put the videos of the burning/exploding device on the U-Tube lest it gives ideas to others. However, it is imperative that no other customer have such a shocking experience. This is dangerous and needs to stop immediately. It is for this reason ONLY I am taking the time to post these comments. I hope ZeroLemon or Amazon do not twist or spin these comments of mine to protect their corporate image and get their lawyers involved. I am at this point NOT INTERESTED IN ANY MONETARY GAIN! But as a professional, I wish to alert others of the danger in buying blindly from Amazon and its affiliates and end up with personal injury to self and others!! Amazon and ZeroLemon are capable of selling you EXPLODING LEMONS too!! BEWARE!!
Update: Ran 1st charge down to 2%. Total time approx. 57hrs. Little to no improvement over stock. On 2nd full charge overnight and so far don't see improvement, @72% after 14hrs light to moderate use (screen on 1.5hrs, awake 15m, internet 9m, calls 12m).
