I purchased the [NFC/Google Wallet Capable] Anker 6400mAh Extended Battery with Black cover for Samsung Galaxy NOTE 3 III, N9000, N9005, Verizon SM-N900V, T-Mobile SM-N900T, AT&T SM-N900A, Sprint SM-N900P [18-Month Warranty] extended battery before the Zerolemon came out. I wrote a review for the Note II Zerolemon battery, and of course, recently upgraded to the insane Note 3. I honestly can not do without an extended battery so I purchased the only one available at the time- the Anker 6400.
The Anker is beautiful, especially when you pair it with TPU case. It does not increase the size of the phone too much and provides plenty of power to get through about two days on full bore. If you need a great battery but don't want your phone to be mistaken for Kindle 7" tablet- go with the Anker/Hyperion (same specs and size).
Now for Zerolemon-- This is the battery I needed. I'm an auditor on a project that doesn't allow us to plug headphones into client computers. My typical 11- 12 hour work day usually demands at least 10 hours of mp3 playing or Pandora/Spotify streaming, plus I run a stopwatch on my phone to keep me on task. That's about 7- 8 hours of screen on time since the phone doesn't sleep with the stopwatch running. Of course I get all my notifications and make phone calls, but, this is the hardest I've had to run my phone on a daily basis. I'm also a YouTube junkie so that's about another hour or so before bed. To recap- about 9-11 hours of simultaneous screen on, mp3 playback, stopwatch app, phone calls (2 hours), Youtube (1hr) and sometimes ebook reading (1hr). Also- I use Waze Navigation app for the 2hr ride to my job site twice a week, and everyday to get around town. By the end of the day, I'm still around 70%. I can't overstate how ridiculous this is.
I usually ended up with 25- 30% battery left with the Anker. That's fine but, the Zerolemon Note II spoiled me. I like knowing that it is virtually impossible to run out of battery in 48 hours. The Zerolemon Note III battery gives me that. It's bigger than the batteries on my Note 8 and Note 10.1 tablet, and it's only pushing a 5"+ screen.
With my demands, the battery will last almost 3 days on a charge. The stock battery will struggle to get me through the day, this thing is a godsend. I don't know many people that will push their Note III harder on a daily basis than I do, so I don't know anyone who would be dissatisfied with this endless power. I'm going to get the Galaxy Gear which requires all day bluetooth tethering which is a battery mass murderer, so this is the only battery I can imagine standing up. I use my phone for bluetooth headphone music streaming also, so this battery literally leaves any "competitor" in the dust. Like pushes the competition off a mountain, into the Atlantic Ocean where they sink all the way to the bottom where submarines dare not tread. It sounds like an exaggeration until you use the battery.
I really liked having a moderately sleek phone with the Anker. The new Zerolemon Hybrid case makes your phone look like a bona fide tablet. I'm a big guy, and it still looks big in my hands. The case offers insane protection for your glorious 1080 HD screen and your amazing phone in general. I'm really glad the case is packaged with the battery instead of having to buy them separately. Still, the trade-off is a marked increase in overall phone size. Make sure to tighten your belt or tie up your sweats really tightly because it will weigh your pockets down.
I don't know what kind of gripes you can have regarding the battery, since you already know it's going to be big. I haven't tried the NFC compatibility but I will (because its there). Most people will have problems with the size of case wrapped phone, but the only gripe you can have about the battery is that it doesn't live up to expectations.
**PSA: The Note 3 suffers from a glitch where the SD card indexing service hangs and heats up the screen. It also drains your battery like nothing I've ever seen. Unfortunately the only fix I know is: 1. Back up all of your SD card files on your comp. 2. Format the SD card. 3. Reload the files. This should work. The problem isn't your battery.***
In closing- I'm pretty sure you're coming here because you had the Note II Zerolemon. The company has created a segment of extended battery addicts, and I'm one of them. This purchase is a no-brainer and turns the addiction up to 11. The Note III has added a bunch of power saving features, starting with the monster processor and extra ram. Having a more powerful battery on a phone that is more power efficient than the Note II is mind blowing. Hopefully this review is useful- as opposed to the numerous ones that only talk about the new case. The kick stand is pretty lame- it only works on tables, not soft objects like your bed. Again, the battery will be too big and heavy for some people. But those of us who know what it's like to only charge your phone as an after thought while running everything under the sun simultaneously on it- this product is in a universe of it's own. I love it. You'll love it. Sorry this is so long. :-)
I find that I'm using the kick stand more and more. The 1080 screen makes it feel like I'm looking at a shrunken version of my 47" HD TV. The Note III speaker is terrible, but the picture is beautiful even when streaming Netflix, Youtube and Hulu Plus.
I found a couple of things that help you keep the phone in its holster and still maintain use of the devise.
*Screen Off/Lock App:
There are a bunch of these apps in the Play store- pick the one that works for you. The on/off button is hard to press with the case on, but, that's a good thing in my opinion. It's very rare that you'll get a random press which turns your screen on. This saves your battery without you even thinking about it. Having the app on your homescreen lets you turn it off quickly, and you can just hit the physical home button to turn the screen on.
*Volume/Eq Control App:
Depending on how you have your phone docked- the volume buttons may be covered. Instead of taking the phone out- you can just go to your homescreen or whatever, toggle this app, and adjust the volume of your media.
I got rid of the included screen cover, since I love using my super HD one. Everything else about the case is heavy duty and well made. You can read at least 30 reviews that will talk about the case in depth, so I'll keep it short.
If you are a newer purchaser, hopefully they will have Amazon Prime units, which should dramatically save on shipping time. The product is absolutely worth the wait- in my opinion- even though I hate waiting.
I said of my Note II Zerolemon- it was the single best accessory I purchased for my phone. Regarding this Note III Zerolemon- it's even better. Nothing else comes close to making my Note III experience as dramatically better as this extended battery does (bar none- full stop). I hope the same happens for you!
So along come Android 4.4.4 and we have the Note 3 as it was supposed to be. This update completely fixed the indexing bug which absolutely ruined the phone and battery. The Zerolemon is a beast, but, because of the indexing error which would make the phone heat up and the battery drain incredibly fast- we were short changed. It was no fault of Zerolemon, it was Android 4.3's fault. Now we get to see the full potential of the Zerolemon battery, and it's nothing short of amazing. Finally- after all this time- I get to enjoy my zerolemon battery and note 3 in full out glory. It's about time but also- this is what having the best phone teamed with the best battery on the market should be like. Fantastic.
Also be sure to properly calibrate this battery before making any full reviews. For awhile all my battery readings were off by quite a bit since the phone didn't know the new battery was over 300% the original capacity. I was able to solve the problem by using an app that deletes the old battery file from the phone so that it can get used to the new battery.
*Check customer images for screentime and video playback time!
This battery/case is totally ridiculous and I love it! I only charge my phone once every 3-4 days with HEAVY usage (GPS, bluetooth music, video streaming and all that stuff).
It feels great not having to worry if my phone will die every day. Now, my only battery-related concern is if I can squeeze 5 days of use out of a single charge.
