Thank you Amazon for selling professional music gear on your site.
I dread the thought of stopping in my local Guitar Center to buy anything.
Anyone that's had that experience knows what I'm talking about.
Received it in just a couple days in flawless condition right to my door.
No traveling around and haggling with vultures who work off of a commission.
I am used to a less brittle feel and more seasoned sound. Just my opinion.
I love it for riding when playing blues and jazz. That is not to say it would not work with other genres, but it would be more of an addition to your sound palette than as a main ride. In blues or jazz it can be either your main or possibly your left side ride.
Another big plus is this crashes as well as it rides. Of course the sustain from a crash will linger seemingly forever, so that aspect takes getting use to.
Do understand that this cymbal does not project well. It's relatively quiet compared to a 20" Zildjian A series Medium Ride. If you are playing heavily amplified music you will find this better suited as an effects cymbal than as a ride or crash/ride.
Because I primarily play jazz this pairs beautifully as my left side ride with an Zildjian A Series 21-Inch Armand Ride Cymbal as my primary.
This particular model sounds identical to my 30+ year old Avedis Zildjian 20" - even the sustain is the same. Do not expect a lot of definition from this (or any other sizzle) because they were designed for a drawn out washy sound with slightly less than moderate definition.
If you're unsure about getting a sizzle, a great compromise is the 19" Zildjian Armand Signature Ride (ASIN B0002GFNF4). That cymbal has a three-rivet cluster near the edge, but has higher definition and less sustain and wash. I have both the Armand and regular sizzle models, so there is a difference in tone and texture these cymbals produce.
